The black dotted tie wouldn't be bad if it were in a color such as forest green, chocolate brown, burgundy, or even navy. Doesn't look too shiny. Any information on what kind of interlining you use, and the dimensions of the ties at the widest point? Any chance you can get a hold of shantung, or even some high quality crunchy knits (at ~3" width)? Outside of The Knottery, there is really no good inexpensive option for knit ties currently.

Correction: Last 2 are S&M Shirts.

Not to bring up a competitor here, but I like the simplicity of fabrics and patterns at The Tie Bar.  I don't mind the solid burgundy tie and the black dot one as well.

What are the collars on those?

Edit:

I realized that the last 2 are S&M. The third is the full spread Donland Chambray and the last is the Milner Stripe. The second is from Kamakura, which is similar to the S&M semi-spread.

Tasteful ones like you can get at Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren and also, and I think this would be huge if you can source it: wide block stripes in muted tones (read: no sheen, martin or charlie) and 2-3 colors max per tie. Don't understand why we don't see any of these at the low-end. I'd be in for so many provided your source can do a dry hand/matte silk.

I'm going to throw in my standard answer and point to Kamakura.

http://shop.shirt.co.jp/shop/e/enecktie/

Most of their ties are either traditional regimental stripes (in 2 or 3 colors max, which like losrockets, is the most colors I can handle in a single tie), textured solids or small repeating figures. Widths are mostly 8cm, with a few 8.5cm or 7.5 cm. Except for when they release their satin ties, most of these ties don't appear to be particularly shiny as well.

And like losrockets, I've been looking for block stripe ties, which are fairly rare. There were some decent ones released my Kamakura a few weeks ago, but some of the best ones are no longer on the site as they sold out. I was really considering this one, though:

@spiermackay

An example in an IMO terrible color scheme, just to prove that you can do it with a woven tie: http://www.bensilver.com/Woven-Block-Stripe-Tie-GreenandPurple,23314.html#.VvnvBXozz0Q

If you can pull these off at a reasonable price they're going to sell really well I think.

Can't get the pic to show on this one or a large burgundy/navy one:

Tie capsule collection (4th one over, I love it)

You get the idea. These are all 2-color but I've seen some tasteful 3-color, though it's much harder to do.

This thread in general is full of great ideas for stripes: http://www.styleforum.net/t/400833/a-study-in-stripes-regimental-and-repp-ties/120

Also re: width I'm gonna make a plea for 8.5-9cm width ties. 8 is feeling rather slim to me these days.

Hey Rick,

What's on deck for the next round of oxfords? (fingers crossed for a lavender uni stripe) Eta? I am already fiending for some new ones haha.

Can we please get a dark burgundy and a navy oxford for the Fall maybe? I have a poor quality burgundy from Bonobos and a quickly wearing out navy from J Crew that could both use replacing in your beautiful fabric and construction. The Bonobos color is really great but the fabric is just terrible.

Some great looking colors from Gitman for J Crew right now.

I rarely wear ties but I would be very inclined to break one out every once and a while with my oxfords if I could grab some at a decent price that look like the stuff you posted. I especially love the navy/khaki one but they are all great looking.

Yeah, that beige or brown + navy combo is really popular for block stripes, you could also work it with a brown-leaning olive, you just can't go gold or brass.

Are the S&M are full or semi-spread?

Final Pre-Production Samples are in for the Madras and Linen.

Both and Button Down Collars, Front left chest pocket and Placket. Kept it casual and simple.

Rick, the collars on those are looking great and I of course love the Madras (That one and the orange/brown were my early pics from the swatches as must haves). I didn't know you had a lavender linen coming, looks fantastic.

Also noticed the higher button stance on these, I thought the collar was the reason it was moved down on the oxfords, how come they are moved up here? I haven't tried the new stance but I do think I will like it since I typically go top and second button undone.

The button stance was only changed on the oxfords because the fabric is thick enough to support it. Linen and Madras are very soft and "limp". The higher stance works better for these.
