Never wore dm shoes when I was a skinhead, only in my mid-20s when I was feeling a bit wistful for it all, so have gone for these for wearing with jeans/rain instead of my Solovair boots (which I really enjoy wearing again but which are - perhaps! - a step too far). Much better looking than the 'Herr Docktor Martens' equivalent (that I don't even want to post an image of!)

Funny, with the big 'grooves'  on the soles, they really look like the 'in the time' Hawkins. Apart from that i don't see much difference with the 4 holes DMs (Smiths and 1561).

Don't agree with you about the good old Doctor though. These are my favorites. they look much smarter with the thin soles, and the last is very elegant. They come with a price, but i was lucky to buy mine during the sales. MIE 'Steeds'

I must admit I never saw the Dr Martens ones you mention, their offering is just too much to look through these days. I took one look at their 1461 and thought 'no!'. I do like the way the Solovair 9954 sweeps longer down to the welt though so I don't have any regrets (yet). On reflection I think they remind me of a pair of workwear shoes (steel toes!) my dad got for me around 1978 that I wore through my pre-skinhead phase. For the sole, I think something fairly coarse is suitable for jeans, I would not be wearing them with trousers.

I must say i'm very curious  :

http://www.thelasttuesdaysociety.org/listings/event/swinging-paris-renoma-les-minets-and-la-bande-du-drugstore-vadim-kosmos/#.VsjdeamVtGj

If one of you, Londoners, could go there and make us a little report afterwards, it would be interesting.

i don't understand very well if there will be 'in the flesh' some survivors from the Drugstore gang (VERY interesting if it's the case), or if  it's a simple compilation of testimonies that the lecturer did (maybe he red the mod to suedehed thread :D)

The choice of Jacques Dutronc (...picture as an illustration) is an error. He never was a Minet, and he even made fun of them in his famous song 'Les playboys". But he was a dedicated follower of fashion and wear a Renoma suit in this picture, like a lot of people did then as it was just... the trend of the time. It was indeed the privilege of the Drugstore gang members a few years before this picture was taken, when The Renoma brothers, still unknown, made their MTM suits.

Come on, gentlemen there's still time to vote for l'Inspecteur!

Some better outfits this week but Gilles's tie is the best.  I am very envious.

Your tie was my favourite but there was some very stiff competition.  A great first (serious) entry!
