For example slim lapels are almost universally derided but post a pic wearing a jacket that Tony Manero would be proud of and you'll get loads of thumbs and comments about how great the lapels are. I lived through the seventies - the decade that style forgot - and have no desire to revisit those looks no matter how often attempts are made to recycle them.

To be fair though Mr. K's lapels this time around are fairly generous so it isn't just the about the lapel really is it?  He puts together a tasteful mix of colors, patterns and layers, his good taste still shines through unlike some of the other entrants...

Speaking of larger lapels in the 2 Tone era after a while some of the bands wore suits with quite chunky lapels (especially some of the Specials), almost going for that 'card shark' look, maybe the first and only time anything vaguely mod inspired 'allowed' large lapels?  Quite a refeshing change from the rigid orthodoxy of more 'purist' mod...

It occurs to me that he's got a New Orleans vibe going.

It is refreshing, I agree.

They took mod as a kind of guide but knew just how to bend the rules.

Thanks!

I posted a bunch of pics of my brogues on the traditional skinheads page many, many pages back. If the fellow wants to search this thread it's up to him to find them.

Purchased several years ago from Jones the Bootmaker, Buchanan St, Glasgow, because at last I had found a pair of shoes the same colour as my A1 jacket!

Gash pair from Clarks, also donkey's years old. I don't own a posh pair.

Florsheim Lexington. They are a good option and not expensive (A tad cheaper than the Loake Royals, and not as chunky) . I saw them 'in the flesh' and they look really good. Exist in black too. (Oops, i wanted to post that on the http://www.styleforum.net/t/514538/streetwear-brogues thread. Double post...)

The Christmas present that I bought for myself arrived today,a pair of Barker Grassington shortwing brogues in Cherry grain leather with Dainite soles.

I am quite happy with them, lovely colour,a very slight grain so not to country, could wear them with jeans or trousers.

Not happy about the fact that they have come with only 1 shoe bag,and minus spare laces and shoe horn !,no one answering the phone so I will be sending an e mail.

Anyone seen anything interesting in the sales ?, I don't need anything at the moment but if the weather doesn't change soon Wellies and wet weather clothing will be on my list.

A belated Happy New Year everyone.

Not looked at the sales as yet but do have a few things that I should like to track down. They include a pair of boots (not sure what style), a sleeveless cardi in burgundy or perhaps beige and maybe a v or crew neck. I've been bombarded by various emails but too lazy to look!

Only buy at the sales so far. 50% off

Nigel Cabourn/Fred Perry 1952 repro.

Unusual for me, i had to size down as it's an oversized fit. Collar bigger as usual.

Very nice material and colour. Long (short) sleeves, Mother of Pearl buttons, and cotton logo.

Yeah Happy New Year/Hogmanay people! Picked up a nice Mackintosh bonded wool Dunkeld in Navy blue at a NYC shop for over 50% off tagged price. I've always wanted one of these and boy is it nice! Happy days.

This same one, though I chose not to but it two sizes too small like the pic!!
