This is an original from a company called IZOD who are still going and have some BD's etc (http://izod.com/product-categories/dress-shirts/).

They are best known apparently for their short-sleeved piqué polo shirt, formerly produced by Lacoste and featuring the Lacoste crocodile on the left breast and the Harrington jacket G-9 model:

Remember seeing a website with stripy board tops like these and thought they looked good, an old US brand apparently but the name hasn't stuck.

Yay, here it is

Something for the holiday/beach look? Prefer the arm pocket myself (and those navy, white/red colours remind me of some casual tracksuit top or other from back then).

It looks a bit like a monkey jacket. Im told monkey jackets were big news after the 66 World Cup, mostly because they resembled the England tracksuit top

I agree re the pockets, although probably better without one at all...

I should love to see a pair 'in the flesh' before buying.

Oh well, wanted sole and upper with minimal contrast to avoid the baseball boot look but none in sand and I don't like the black with black sole (want a change from black anyway). So looks like I will have to call into a Clarks shop in Europe lol.

I know some of you are still keen to try another London get together in late autumn.  I guess we would be looking at November if we do go ahead.

Is there any appetite for this?

Cheers

I'll definitely try to come if there is another meet up. Depends of the date though. :)

For the Friday challenge I wore some rather outré Jeffery West ankle boots - it's starting to feel autumnal!

Boots and suits was not really part of my look back in the day and I find it no easier now...

I have a Loake Kempton boots in black and Loake Pimlicco boots in brown, both plain leather chukka boots with dainite sole ( leather sole is an option),I think that because they are plain they can be worn with most clothes (others may disagree),I prefer boots to shoes in the wet or cold.

I walked through John Lewis on my way back to the car last week and spotted some navy raincoats in a sale,I have been waiting to try on an APC navy raincoat for a while but these were John Lewis  KLN ( their in house brand I think )..bonded cotton, unlined, quite heavy material ( made in China) reduced to £49.50.

I tried an XL and it fitted perfectly, just the length I wanted and a very nice shape, the only down side were the sleeve adjustment 'belts' and buttons which I used a scalpel to cut off, so a bit of a bargain.

I mentioned before about silk ties from China on e bay,I orderered another one 2 weeks ago it arrived this week,I am convinced that it is the same as the made in China silk ties that sell in John Lewis for £25,but the e bay one is £2.63 including postage !...ok not the greatest tie in the world but I don't wear a tie that often and it will do for me,the GF really likes it too so a result all round.

The other item that caught my eye recently was a pair of blue puppy tooth check trousers in M+S,almost navy and pale blue,I hadn't seen that colour check before but I thought that it looked good.

I love the way you make many of your own 'alterations' and your desire to ensure things are customised to your own taste.

I must give M&S another look this season.  Today, I happen to be wearing my brown Angelico flannel M&S suit (made in Italy) which is one of my very favourite items.  A good way to step into autumn.

Any pictures of your new purchases?

London Calling

When we met back in July there was a proposal to meet again in late autumn.  Clouseau is keen to come over again and would like to book his ticket asap so, in an exchange of PMs, we have agreed a possible date – Thursday 26 November.

I know that cov and Skinny Legs are up for another meet – anyone else?  I am also going to mention it on Mod to Suedehead this time as there seems to be a little more cross-over nowadays.
