‘Anyone who has seen the TV show ‘Bull’ will know that there’s a lot that goes into jury selection, but after the voir dire session I was not picked.‘

Yes, jury selection seems to be a specialty activity in the US according ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ Netflix series.

Collar and tie and a copy of ‘The Daily Telegraph‘ would probably get you out of service with defence lawyers who may suspect it indicates a hanging and flogging mindset.
I suppose I don’t mind doing my civic duty but the thing that bugged me about the whole shooting match was there was a larger pool of over a hundred on the day. They selected 30 of us for one court to then undergo voir dire of which seven were selected for the jury. The rest of us were sent back to the main collection room to wait a while longer. Some were then selected to go to another courtroom for another voir dire on another case and the rest of us were finally let go. The case? Driving without a license. Those selected were told they’d have to go back on Thursday for the actual case. A judge, a clerk, a court reporter, two defence lawyers, two assistant DAs, several cops, and hundreds of us inconvenienced and lost productivity all to decide if a bloke was guilty of driving without a licence or not which should be an open and shut case.
