National Gallery, Anyone? - Page 3

Make sure you see Sargent's "Nonchaloir". It is simply gorgeous. Unfortunately I can't tell you where to find it because a bunch of galleries are under renovation and we just happened across it one day (about 2 months ago).

I disagree with the sentiment to see the many impressionist paintings. They are what they are and they are no different in real life. Explore something you don't know.

The NGA has had some recent photo exhibits that were pretty good. Paris in Transition was great.

I also like the modern wing and the sculpture garden.

As others said, walk up to the Protrait Gallery and Museum of American Art. We were there just a month ago and it's really nice.

Oh, shit I almost forgot: The Modernism show at the Corcoran closes soon. Go check it out (not free, maybe $12); it has some really cool stuff.

The Portrait Gallery and the show at the Corcoran are great. Definitely check those out. Rent some bicycles and get around much easier. It's a great area for cycling downtown if you aren't afraid of cars.

I try to visit these museums at least every couple of months.

The NG has a great temporary exhibit of travel drawings 1450-1700. Some amazing Durer sketches and some interesting early modern mappa mundi. The Rodin sculptures nearby are also worth some time.
