What's a Wee? ex-Bachs? Playstations? Do you think first person games suck? Do you remember a time when 16 bit video game systems bragged about # of colours vs. processor speed? Do you regret buying a Sega 32X? Do you have a Konami/Contra Code tattoo? Do you remember blowing into cartridges to make them work?

Time for us geezers to discuss the joys of NES, SNES, Sega, Sega Genesis... Atari? C64? Whatever floats yer boat. Go!

You're showing your age; the new generation is all about the previous generations with the Wii's Virtual Console and um...everything on the Nintendo DS (Castlevania, Mario, Panel de Pon, etc.). Oh, and the amazing Pac-Man: Championship Edition that was just released on X-Box Live and forced me to buy a 360. Yeah, I bought a $400 console for a $10, updated version of Pac-Man. That's old-school, right?

Cool tidbit: RBI Baseball is getting a new version for the Nintendo DS (announced today). This is one of my favorite sports games ever. I remember beating the neighbor girl something like 96-0 on a regular basis. How we thought this was fun I'll never know.

Um, OK, let me save face and talk about something exclusively old-school...eh? Oh, the local theater I'm now doing programming for has a Ms. Pac-Man machine. I must play it every time I'm in there.

Am I alone in thinking that New Super Mario Bros. for the DS is actually the best 2D Mario game?

I was never big into arcade games. Except TMNT.

I did play Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man a lot in university.

My gf started playing Zelda: A Link To The Past today. She kind of sucks (I hope she doesn't read this), so I have to beat all of the bosses for her. So easy.

I heard that the Dreamcast (never owned one) is able to play NES, SNES, Genesis, et al. emulator games? Is this virtual console the same thing?

Nah, these are legal and you have to download them from Nintendo's online store. It is an emulator of sorts, though.

My aunt use to have these minature arcade consoles that were made of plastic. Q Bert was one of those games, and I forget the other. She use to babysit me, and I spent many days playing those games. Hours of addictive 2-colour fun!!

I remember sega and nintendo. Sonic, Street-fighter EX Alpha, Mortal Kombat. I seriously stopped playing video-games in elementary school though. I'm 21 now. I really don't get the obsession anymore.

I never was into fighting games. All of the Sonic games were loads of fun. I don't play much anymore, but it's a very nostalgic experience each time I play.

I think if I ever happened upon someone playing something vintage like sonic or mortal kombat, I'd feel a wave of nostalgia too. The games now though are just too real. Children aren't creative anymore because of it.

Yes. Actually, I think it's pretty great and probably in the top five. It received a lot of backlash due to it's non-difficulty, but I thought it was pretty spot-on. My only real complaint are the pseudo-3D graphics that remind me of a chintzy flash game.

That's definitely a sweeping generalization from someone who hasn't played a game since childhood.
