Anyone ever hear of Cobbler Union? - Page 8

The Louis boot is very very comfortable and one of my best looking boots. They look a dressy but the grain leather give them a rough touch.

Are those from an early run?  My understanding was the welt and sole was now brown...

Hello M653

I have mine since november 2014, can't tell about sole or welt. I suggest asking directly to CU, they are really helpful. Good luck.

I live 10 minutes from their store.  Great shoes, great people.  Free shipping both ways......you've got nothing to lose.

I don't think that is uncommon when it comes to shoes.  I ordered a pair of Alden boots in early Sept and I've got at least two more weeks to wait

Is it just funny shadows or is the leather that darkened above the sole from water??  If so, how'd they recover?  Damp days are exactly what I have in mind for the Louis if i get a pair...

I just ordered some drivers. Since they didn't have my size the site says it can take 120 days so you are still in that window.

that's from the water, they are almost gone now, after about 3 days. Am I suppose to do anything about it or just give it enough time to dry.

Generally-speaking, the recommendation is to stuff the shoes with newspaper and lay them on their side to dry out.  I'd change the newspaper out after 12 hours or so and then every 24 hours until they are dry.   AE and Sapir make really good waterproofing sprays.

Mine turn almost black when they get soaked but they dry out within a couple hours of wear. I have since used Glen Karen's water resistant cream and this has really reduced the water absorption. It still absorbs but not as quickly. This may be due to the pebble grain vs smooth leather.

I have only ordered what they had in stock and they ship quickly. If you had to wait for construction, I would shoot them an email for an update. They should be able to provide an eta.

Great choice on the John. I'm definitely getting that one! It looks great and also has a thick sole for bad weather.
