^ I would stick with link (i.e. single) cuffs - I think its a much sharper look. Either way it's a very minor point, and French cuffs are totally ok as well.

The vest should ALWAYS be the same as the rest of the black tie outfit.

[After reading more closely] Since the tailor would be making the items, the possibility of blacks not matching is low.

People probably could argue endlessly about the look of French cuffs vs. single cuffs, but the former would have more utility after the wedding.

Thanks for the replies.

Went to the tailor today and they are making the lapel with satin but the top part above the lapel (collar) in wool.

My understanding is that the lapel is faced in satin, but not the collar, unless you are doing shawl collar, in which case it's all faced.
