I know this must have been covered before, but what was the difference between AE's Cappuccino and their everyday Brown?

Or Alden's Cigar? There seems to be such variation among batches of shell as is, it seems futile to try to maintain so many minute variations. And yet people who have visited Horween tell tale of a shelf of 50(?) colors of shell they used to produce, that they don't permit photography of in fear of causing a riot.

I think to be fair to Horween, a lot of this is manufacturers making up their own names for the colors.

But yes completely agree that people get way to hung up on specific color names. Here are the general colors that exist imo:

- Natural/whiskey/saddle/bourbon
- ravello/cognac
- cappuccino/cigar/dark brown
- #8
- black
- #4
- #2

Basically 3 shades of brown, 3 shades of red, and black. Within all the brand names there is tons of variance and changes over time that drawing lines between cappuccino and dark brown is just futile

(And then you have oddballs like navy, green, pebbled, gunmetal, etc)

Alternatively you can think of brown as just a spectrum of huge possibilities, and the brand name *should* give you an idea of where on that spectrum a particular pair will fall

Cappuccino was a troublesome color, apparently. There was a wild amount of color variation, so much so that AE actually relabeled the lighter batches "Truffle." Some of the truffle shells looked like walnut, while the darker "cappuccinos" we're even darker than "dark brown."

As long as I'm here, might as well post this --- wore one of my AE GMTOs today.

Nice boots. So, i guess that means we can't order a style they are not currently offering either.  Thanx for your response.

I would love to get some natural shell Strands or McAllisters. Any additional info on how to get these would be greatly appreciated!

Will they be allowing other changes besides leather and soles such as welt color and/or eyelets?
