He can also possibly mean mini lug tap sole?

X-Post from the AEA thread.

Ok, so celebrating the REAL Walnut Wednesday with what AE briefly called "Dark Walnut Cordovan" (otherwise known to the rest of us as simply "brown"). MTO Kenilworth 2.0....

I think you mean Toby mini lug?  They are a great choice for a Dalton especially if most/all of your other shell is on leather soles.

Here's a set on a 2014 GMTO brown shell Bayfield.

Or do you mean a topy?

Lots of opinions, I like the more hearty Toby mini lug for a Dalton.

Thanks! Yes I mis-typed and then went back and typed it the same way again! This is why I should go to bed at 10PM.  I am leaning towards the Toby or even the bigger Vibram sole that is on the Long Branch or Sturgis, if it will fit. My only concern is that I've read other places that the Cordovan does better on a leather sole? What is your opinion? Either way I've decided to get a brown Dalton this year and the black next year. Brown is just more versatile and would look better if I go with the funky sole. The black I will probably take with the traditional sole since it looks "dressier" to me.  Thanks for the pics! And your input.

Well I typed a reply and then it disappeared. So here it is again.... I had typed it wrong then caught my mistake and went back and typed it wrong again! I should go to bed at 10PM and not be up looking at shoes. I am getting the Dalton in brown cordovan. I am leaning towards getting the chunkiest sole I can on it but the Toby looks dressy and chunky so now I'm conflicted. Next year I'll order it in black and go with the traditional sole.

I tried to order a Bradley in brown shell with a Toby lug, but the SA I spoke with said...not an option under current "material change only" rules.  Would not be surprised to hear that some exceptions occurred, but not sure you even have such an option.

EDIT TO ADD:

SA called back, said sole options have expanded.  I reconsidered and did not place the order but glad to hear that some flexibility is back.  :)

I will let you know. I've ordered four pairs during this promotion so maybe they are humoring me a bit. But it all sounds great until the order is actually filed and I have the receipt/email in hand.  So you may be right.

Very warm and fuzzy by the looks of this thread.  I called today to see if they would do a Long Branch in different leather.  They said no.  Long Branch in Dublin English Tan would be outstanding.

We did that last year as a GMTO.

And it is a shame, I hope they get things together and open it back up.

Yep. Can't wait for a little snow/slush so I can break my pair out. Great boots.

Those look amazing!  I don't know why AE doesn't use this leather on more boots and shoes.  The standard golden CXL looks completely bland and dead compared to the English Tan Dublin.

Gotta love navy shell!

Thanks for the PC shot, too! wink.gif

Those look amazing. Making me feel bad that I didn't get in that GMTO. Great picture overall, too.
