Sooooo... At least I know I'm not the only one obsessed with CXL. If I was honest to myself I like smelling new CXL more than wearing them. Lol.

@halfnhalfnhalf those are real shit kickers if I ever saw one! Topy over double soles! I need to do this! Would give me definitive height over my wife even if she's wearing heels.

These are awesome!
I'd like to suggest that you get more shoe trees.

Great collection, now you have to retake it in the sunlight

Thanks. It would be too much work to move the shoes outside. I don't too much direct sun light into the apartment.

Mind listing out the shoes for those who don't know (me).

So maybe I haven't kept myself up-to-date enough but I began the process to order a custom shoe through AE (basically a MacNeil in natural CXL) and received the following response:

>>>>

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds custom program.

We have recently placed a temporary hold on custom orders involving leather changes. We are working on revamping our custom program  to be more consistent through all channels including stores, online and our contact centers. The changes taking place to our custom program will help to reduce wait time for you the customer. We expect to see the custom program back sometime before the end of the year, but currently do not have an exact date.

Thank you for your patience,

Allison Meyer

>>>>

Am I missing something? What's the point of MTO if you can't even change a leather in a current production shoe?

Thanks,

Michael

There is no MTO program at the moment. It's being revamped, as Allison told you in that email. They stopped accepting MTO orders fairly recently (a few months ago?), but I suspect it will be started up again with a new shell cordovan trunk show (as Paul hinted at in his Reddit AMA).

In the meantime, Alden is the only maker that I know of that offers a LWB in Natural CXL. With the MTO fee, the price is somewhat comparable ($565 for the Alden LWB, ~$500 for the AE MacNeil with SMU fee, etc.).

Rancourt & Co. is releasing a LWB sometime in the spring, but I'm not sure what leathers they will offer.
