For those that have received these mto's what service has AE usually used to ship these in the US? I didn't bother to get any tracking info but I'm curious if there is a chance I get my Bayfield tomorrow or if I'm going to have to wait until Monday. Getting anxious now that I know they are on the way.

FedEx always for delivery.

Suggestions please?

I sent in a pair of Black Rothsays for recrafting, adding chili welt, med brown edging and replacing the harrier white outsole with a black gumlite outsole. (Saw someone here do something similar)

What kind of laces would you use? Darker/black flat laces? a brown to match welt/edging? round laces?

I am not very familiar with these eyelet hooks, not sure if flat laces are the only way to go.

You sure do love some gumlight. They ARE quite comfy, but get oily and dirty easily.

I would try to match the welt/edges.

Yeah, Rostov and I wear the same size. But I tried on a Williams in 10.5 3E and it seemed ok. So maybe I'll be cool....

My other 2-last boots in 10.5 3E pinch if my feet swell or if I wear thick socks.

However, while I have been sized at 10.5 3E by two "master fitters", I suspect my ideal size in most AE shoes would be 11 2E. For most lasts, the 10.5 3E is a bit loose in the heel while 11 E is too narrow in the forefoot. I order 3E because heel slippage is easier managed than squished toes.

From that perspective, I may have simply upped one width as others have. (I also conferred with my 'master fitter'/SA before ordering)

Thanks for the color comment, those current laces are not good fit imo after these changes.

Do those odd eyelets pretty much require flat laces?

Yes, the assorted Gumlite soles fit my daily life and environment better than other choices.
Even 9 of my 11 shell items are on Gumlites.

I'm not expecting rubber soles to catch on, but, appreciate the option for my closet.

Brown Grains showed up today. Ordered my normal size, which seems to work for me (admittedly this is based on a roughly five minute walk around the house).

I almost picked those boots up from shoebank and would have done a resole also not sure with what. I shy away from gumlite only because the few shoes I have had to return several times were with that sole.

When I got them right that are comfy.

Disappointing results for my Thursday delivered Navy ECs:

As this was my first MTO, I was hoping for a Kahuna-like delivery...flawless. I found other small miscues, but this one I can see and feel. Leather is bunched, sort of stiff in the area. I have seen it before on seconds boots... Thoughts? Suggestions?

Is there a post number requirement to post images on this forum? Bayfields arrived but I'm not 100% sure how to post pictures.

@Indyoshi68 Mine were also a little weird when i got them. I just used a generous amount of leather conditioner to soften them up. I just rubbed it in really good for probably ten minutes. brushed them off, wore them the whole day. Its almost unnoticeable now.
@Albie31 I also have a hard time posting from photobucket or anything else. I just upload pictures from my Iphone.
