Sorry for the newbie question, who else offers different widths?

There are plenty of other brands that offer wide sizes, but most require MTO for it though. Some off of the top of my head:

AE, Alden, C&J, EG, GG, JL, VASS, St. Crispin. Just the ones i know of, i'm sure there are more. The real problem is getting sized properly, with only a minimal margin of error, before placing a blind MTO. As most of those brands are not so easily accessible...

That's what I was afraid of...

Btw, I know very few of those acronyms! I'll figure them out though! Thanks for the info!

Sizing is a big concern actually. On the brannock my feet are L 11E and R 10.5 3E. It took me a lot of trial and error (and bogus purchases) on different AE lasts to figure out what works. The prospect of going through it all again with another manufacturer is a little nauseating. But i do live in NYC, and there is an Alden and CJ store in manhattan, so it's not impossible.

I was just on Alden's website & recalled that I had been on their website before. Unfortunately they don't have a brown cordovan (that I could find anyway). That's why I was looking forward to a MTO brown cordovan MacNeil. Anyhow, I'll check the other sites. Thanks for explaining the acronyms!

Just received this:

I need to make you aware that for this point on the style forum program has been discontinued. All custom order shoes will be charged a custom fee.

I apologize for inconvenience.

Thank you,

Allison Meyer

Wow, I got to say that this is a huge disappointment. AE screwed up one of my MTOs and I ate the cost of them. I agree that AE could have done a better job from a PR perspective realizing that word of mouth is their biggest advocate and we are undoubtedly a big contributor to their word of mouth advocacy.

I am also disappointed to hear that they are using lasers to do their pinking and perforations as the hand made nature of their shoes was one of their biggest attractions. The problem with their pinking, according to them is their (shoddy) work on the burnishing wheel and not their pinking cutting process.

I also personally feel that their business model of devaluing their shoes by having readily available sales and seconds hurts them. It also hurts me as it makes it harder for me to resell their product, even when they are bnib and un obtainable!

I was wondering how or why there could have been this many posts here today. I was not expecting this to be the cause!

Good run my friends, enjoy your special one of a kind designs and happy shoe hunting!

That's discouraging, I just received a 9.5 E cordovan Leeds & thought I had AE figured out. I guess not?

You'll be looking for a Cigar shell longwing blucher. They do come up every once in a while. You'll have to get on a retailers waiting list.

Sir, Alden makes 5 colors of shell... Black, Color 8 (Burgundy), Cigar (Dark Brown), Ravello (Medium Brown with Red Undertones), and Whiskey (Light Brown with Yellow Undertones). They only advertise Black and Color 8 publicly. The exotic colors are made specifically for certain vendors. Alden makes an awesome Cigar LWB... PM me for more Alden help or check out their thread.

Note: See my icon, those are all Alden Shell LWBs (except the one 4 O'Clock - that was a Ron Rider MTO - not cheap).

Thanks gentlemen,

So I'm new to this...I've made my way from car forums to watches to now this forum! From what I've seen so far resellers only seem to sell D widths? (I love the blue J Crew Alden Chromexcel but again, only appears to be available in D)

(Btw, I've gone through this thread & I'm not 100% sure what LWB means? I'm guessing long wing blucher?)

I'll certainly pm you Mike, thanks!

I get B widths. Just requires more patience and connections... But mainly patience.

I actually require B/C widths as well. A 9D works for me in the 3 and 5 last but I dont think ill be able to always go that route with some shoes.
