I do not believe that they will change lasts. I am sorry, never hurts to ask, but I wouldn't get my hopes too high.

-Mike

That's really too bad. The only thing that has prevented me from buying a pair of walnut strands is the bulbous round toe of the 5 last. If they could be made on the 8 last, I'd be in heaven.

What does everyone think of a pair of Mora's in Lily White Suede with either a toe-cap with a medallion, or just the medallion by itself?

Sorry, AFAIK AE wont put a medallion where the original shoe doesnt have one. You can have a medallion removed though.

You could MTO the "Strand Golf Shoe" with a standard walking sole. It's on the 73 last (same as Pine River and Shaker Heights). Up until last week, had been on sale for $200.

How's this work with MTOs? Do you get the sale price for anything that's discounted as long as it's not discontinued?

Right. Sales yes. Clearance no.

They can't MTO any of the JAB models. Allison told me it's because JAB owns the lasts that their AEs are made on. Are you sure the Boardroom is on the 7-97, or does it just feel like it is?

Interesting. I wonder if that also applies to the McClain, which used to be in the regular AE lineup, and is indeed on the 108 last...

My 2nd MTO arrived today. Heritage with a non-golf sole. I was going for something a little different but that I would wear. I like them. My only two comments: 1) When I unboxed them there was an overwhelming chemical odor that smelled just like spray paint that I've never experienced before (I own several AE shoes). They seem to be airing out - not sure if the Poron insole or orange color has something to do with it. 2) I'm confused at what "brown calf" versus "dark brown calf" is. I think these came out just fine (and there may have been too much contrast with dark brown) but I asked for the same dark brown like on my Parkway. You can see the difference. "Brown" seems to be used fairly universally.

Ordered May 22, arrived June 17.

Enjoy...

Compared to "dark brown burnished"...

1079 BROWN CALF WING, EYESTAY, COLLAR, HEEL
2424 BROWN SUEDE VAMP, QUARTER
PORON INSOLE
ORANGE LINING LEATHER
BROWN FLAT WELT
LIGHT BROWN TRANSPARENT EDGE DRESSING V-TREAD OUTSOLE
WHEELED EDGES.
That looks great!

Can't wait for my MTO Heritage (all Merlot Calf - fairly boring sorry) - just the way that wing stops before a bit before the other wingtips like the McCallister makes the shoe look so much more clean, less cluttered, and nicer looking IMO - especially from the sides.

Ugh only been a week since I placed the order and I'm salivating!

Can AE take a style that is normally made on a 5 last, and make it on a last more accommodating to a high instep?

No. Blaster or Coldiron. I have really only done 4 MTOs myself. I have some more in my mind, but only need soo many shoes...
Nope not for me either. I did ask a bit more than a year ago to go the other way around as I have a low instep and love the 5 last. Debbie told me that at one time they used to swap lasts however there were issues that came up from time to time so it is no longer an option.

I agree Mike, a man only needs so many shoes and boots and I have really slowed down, however...
