The Allen Edmonds MTO Thread - Page 87

Yeah, unfortunately they are creasing on the cap toe. Not thrilled about it, but there is not much that I can do about it. It has a very long toe, so it is bound to happen.

Thank you, the independence collection is definitely more refined than your typical AE. Making them shell just ups the ante some more! :-)

I got an email with the fedex tracking number so you should know EXACTLY when to expect it on your door.

Edit:  should have quoted that this was in response to if Allison sends another email when MTO ships.

Hey @mdubs, how come none of my shells look as nice and shiny as yours?

Haha. Or you probably don't fly. As you can see, dubs shoes don't crease, either... LOL

True, I only have 5. But none of them looked that nice either out of the box or after loads of TLC.

Walnut Shell of course would be determined by the ability of Horween to supply it. But I certainly would be very interested in another boot in Walnut Shell. The butyl leather soles longevity can be hit or miss as heldentenor said. I have them on several of my boots and on one pair they were a bit "dryer" than my others and chipped and wore out pretty fast.

Edit: And I would also go for a Longwing! But would prefer the 5 last however....

I'd consider going in for a walnut shell boot as well. The 13D and 12D experiments never worked out for me and the Daltons.

Black Outland Leather Leeds MTO

Dainite Sole

Mismatched Sizes for my mismatched feet

This is my third MTO, but the first one to arrive with no issues at all. The leather seemed very dull/matte with a grey appearance out of the box.  RW Boot Shoe Cream and AE Premium Polish have them looking more black with a little bit of gloss.  I may add wax polish later but for now and until I see how they crease this is great.  They are also now showing initial creases from 5 minutes around the house. The Outland Leather is very supple and wrinkles up easily in the creases but is supposed to be durable and long lasting.

I am going to try Over Under Lacing as that is "Ian's Favourite" and also use the Lock Lacing technique to try to keep my wide front, low volume instep, narrow heeled feet in place.  I have Pedag 3/4 Viva Mini Inserts, Pedag Heel Grips and Tongue pads standing by for our first adventure together. Here's a picture of some sketchy stairs that I mentioned when asking for leather and sole advice.  No need to be level front to back or side to side, really fun in the rain/snow/ice. I'm sure the Dainite will be just fine.

@AT83 congrats on your new Black Leeds! Those are very cool. The leather reminds me a lot of CXL. It seems that there are several leathers that fit that same category, which is cool. The Black Danite on the Black Shoes makes for a nice mix that will be durable.

Enjoy them!

Raining today so I thought it would be a good time for the maiden voyage for my navy eagle county. Creases on the captoe showing up. I don't mind it though.
