Appropriate amount of break in trousers.

I have seen on this forum some ungodly sights of trousers not even touching the shoe...being able to see way too much sock...

You are right on the money.:fonz:

Unless it's a dull plastic I think Cordovan looks more "plasticy".  The gloss is less diffused.

Dr. Jung,

Aren't those CG Florsheims there?

And yet, though I think burg is the only okay color for CG shoes (Church's get an exception), and I like burg shell, burg calf has a lower success rate than brown calf.

They're both Allen Edmonds Macneils.  What's "CG"?  I like both calf or cord.  Just in this case I'm defending the Calf Merlot Macneils since I own a pair.

Is 38R a troll, oblivious, or an enigma shrouded in mystery?

(I suspect a mixture of the latter two)
i suspect the same. though i would call it intentional obliviousness.

Those ain't Macneils. They may have come up in a google search, but the distinctive thing about the AEs is that the facings "touch" the wing.

Here's a shell Macneil:

CG is corrected grain -- leather with a plastic-y coating, like on a Weejun.

I think here's the source for your picture there:

If it mitigates the sadness of this, know that I was very close to buying a pair until I saw them in person.

Claghorn, you should know better.   i have been around as long as you.  if thinking you are right, and others are wrong is trolling. you and stitches are near the top of the troll list.

I 100% agreed with another member regarding the farce which is wearing pants that are waaaaaay to short. while 2-3 guys on here will pat you on the back, in reality. - you look ridiculous.

And i retain my right to have a say in what looks good and what doesn't. after all, this is Styleforum.      so this would mean i am selection number 3.

It isn't.

Then your previous post is invalid.  so in future, keep the troll labelling for those who are new and have no real opinions.  or help to offer.

anyway, still all love here. no hate.  diversity keeps the forum lively.

sorry for the derail @jrd617, carry on gentlemen.....

I'm happy with them so it's all good.

Didn't realize I linked a florsheim.  Too many acronyms in my daily line of work to keep track of them all on here too.  :brick:  The point I was just trying to make was in jest as I truly don't care of get offended.  I was just pointing out that the shine on cordovan, the high shine anyway, resembles plastic more so.  The gloss/shine is more diffused in calf.  I suppose if you were comparing a dull plastic it might resemble it more.  Carry on.

haven't read all yet. Jacket length, buttoning point, slim fits.

jrd, do these look plasticy to you? I agree that cordovan can and that burgundy is probably the safest color with them, but I've seen a few exceptions
