Some people really get into movies and stories. Feeling nauseaous when seeing something you find profoundly disgusting is not that far a reaction from crying or feeling a great sense of emotional stress when watching other movies/scenes. I generally don't have strong reactions because I have a different approach to watching movies (i.e. I get into the story, but I also always analyze the shots, angles, the photography choices, etc...) which probably tends to keep my mind thinking that I am watching fiction.
On another hand, my wife totally immerses into the story and cries all the time when watching movies (she almost never cries in real life...). For example, I had to warn her half a dozen times before showing her "Dancer in the Dark". We had the DVD at home, sitting on the table for literally 2 months, I told her many times that it was emotionally extremely stressful and that the director makes it his mission to play with the viewer's emotion, that she will cry a lot. We finally watched it last weekend and she was a total mess. She also told me that she felt stressed for the next 4 or 5 days...
