WAYWRN Composite -- 25 thumb minimum - Page 123

Time for someone new (me) to take the reins for a bit.

I decided to standardise the process by choosing a single picture from each posting, usually whichever photo showed the full outfit (or close to it).

I also standardised the sizes.

Hopefully this allows for easier scrolling and not too much page-bloat.

I'm wearing the same suit and hat, but different glasses, shirt, tie and shoes. Perhaps an improvement, but I will leave that to the viewer to decide.

Thanks for putting in the work Cox!

I remember saying when this thread was first proposed that if nothing else it would provide a very useful record of how posters’ preferences change over time, a question I personally find very interesting.

It’s now about 20 months old and having gone back and reviewed the first 20 or so pages I think one can indeed notice gradual shifts.   For example, it’s been my impression over the past four or so months that bold ties are garnering more thumbs (and there are more of them) than they did when the thread began, and I think the historical record as preserved in this thread provides some measure of confirmation of that claim.

Of course no thread exists in a vacuum, and what’s not preserved is a record of the other most active threads then and now.   Back then the first page of the Classic Menswear forum usually included both the Soporific Tie Porn thread and the Good Taste thread.   No doubt synergies emerge between whatever happens to be the most active threads at any point in time, with a degree of mutual reinforcement going on.

Anyway, I like this thread a lot (if perhaps for reasons not wholly typical) and just want again to express my thanks to those who keep it going.

Cheers,

Ac

Sadly, no.  It’s a no-name pickup from Ebay at less than $50 if I recall correctly, plus a few rounds of surgery at the alterations tailor for probably about twice that (its length was OK but it was way too big around).

I took a chance on it (I usually only buy ties on Ebay these days) because I like the rich brown color  It’s a very rustic and rough cloth, more Scottish Highlands than Yorkshire in spirit.

Cheers,
