Cream might work, but -- and I think you agree -- I don't think silk is the way to go with all that texture. How about dots, blue on gray? Something like this.

If you're going to go silk, I've had reasonable success with very muted, chalky dark ancient madder paisleys on patterns.

And once again, I want to thank Elio and Cleav and anyone else I missed (I know DonC was helping out there a while back) for keeping this thread up and running and humming. Y'all have taken something I was doing alone and made it a group endeavor. Truly fantastic.
