Looks fanta

Definitely a great look. Can you give details on the shirt makeup (fabric, button placement)? Also what are the details on those trousers and coat? They go great together.

Thanks!

It's the Carmine Light Blue Stripe with the Stiff Roma Cutaway Collar. I chose to lower the top button placement so I can attempt to wear the shirt more casually.

The Jacket is the Suit Supply Hudson in Cotton/Wool.

The trousers are a lightweight flannel from Spier & Mackay in Contemporary fit.

Awesome, thanks a lot! I just ordered a shirt with the Stiff Roma Cutaway Collar a few days ago. Seeing that picture makes me wish it would arrive faster

. I may need to order another in the Carmine Light Blue Stripe now that I've seen that one!

Do you mind explaining a little (if a bit of an off-topic question is allowed in this thread) on the lower top button placement and how it lends to wearing the shirt more casually?

I am not knowledgeable about such things and how the button placement's affects the casual/formal aspects of a shirt. I think I may be confused because I had the impression that wearing a shirt more causally might mean unbuttoning the top button and I thought when wearing a casually shirt unbuttoned then the goal was to raise the top button so that the collar wasn't as wide open to keep it looking clean or to avoid having it expose to much chest or something like that.

Granted, that impression is probably from many years ago of reading the description of a Banana Republic shirt on their online site that read something like "Shirt features a raised top button so shirt may still be worn casually unbuttoned in the office". The Stiff Roma Cutaway Collar shirt I just ordered I actually raised the button by 0.5 inches with that very impression in mind

Wow, that Suit Supply Cotton/Wool Hudson is awesome! Is that from this full suit? http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/suits/hudson-navy-plain/P4264I.html

Do those flannel trousers stay cool enough for summer wear? They look like they would be, but I don't recall how hot/humid Boston is compared to D.C. during the summer.

In my opinion the Milano II and Roma Spread (as well as any of their standard stiff fused interlined collars) are just the right weight. Luxire's is, in my opinion, too stiff by default. I use both these collars and they stand up quite well under a jacket (see previous picture a page back for the Roma Spread) without a tie, and of course do just fine with ties to be dressy. Also, FWIW, as I've previously mentioned, these are the only two collars (RS and MII) that stand up the way I like (read: tall and symmetrically), but that's due to the proportions and angles and et cetera, not the thickness of the collar per se, which of course factors in but again, is the same (and just right) on all similarly constructed collars they offer. To illustrate how both stand up without a tie (which seems to me the test of whether it's stiff enough or not), here's a photo of both collars worn open - Milano II on left with top button lowered 1/2", Roma Spread on right with standard top button placement.

With Luxire, their standard fused interlinings are so thick that without a tie even a properly proportioned and angled etc collar will just about fly away under a jacket unless it's a button-down. Case in point: I once had them duplicate exactly a Milano II collar (mailed in the shirt and everything) to see if I could expand my fabric options by using both companies, and was sorely disappointed with the useless shirt that came in, as the lining was so thick it flew away no matter how you ironed it. Then again, this may not be an issue if you're talking tie-wear... in which case, I'm not sure the 'stiffness level', so long as it's fused, matters much. But I may be misunderstanding your question.
Your first sentence pretty much answered my question. Thanks
I just ordered swatches to have a better idea about the fabrics. Should pull the trigger on the Soft Roma Cutaway or Roma Spread when they arrive

Anyone have any laundry tips? I just got my 1st PC shirt...and don't want to mess anything up, but I also want to get any expected shrinkage out of the way.

I was thinking hot wash and either hang dry or light tumble dry...any thoughts?

About to make a new order, and was looking at the Cotton/Linen fabrics.

Noticing what some have said about softer fabrics like this, would I be best off with a stiff President Spread or Roma vs the soft Pres/Roma options to wear casually without a blazer or tie?

Is the Soft Ivy only really good for the Heavy Oxford Cotton?

Thanks guys!

I think the recommended method is to cold wash and hang dry. I usually just give my shirts to the cleaners.

It depends entirely on the aesthetic you're after. That said, I personally feel strongly - though I love the collar - that the soft Ivy really is only good (again, to my aesthetics) with heavier fabrics, yes. Certainly things besides heavy oxford cloth, but that is undoubtedly where it shines. In lightweight fabrics of any kind they simply have no structure, especially without a tie. In the right context though - absolutely beautiful collar. Can't speak to the stiff President Spread or stiff Roma Cutaway as a) I have no experience with the new 'stiff' collars [yet] and b) I don't dig that whole collar flapping to each side look, accentuating the horizontal; I tend to go for verticality due to facial structure so it's BD collars when no jacket for me (MII when with a jacket but no tie). Again, just my two (or three) cents.

1. The first test-fit shirt I got was with a regular button placement, and it when I wore the shirt without a tie, it seemed too high up to wear without a tie. Though this may be a personal preference thing. Check this out: http://propercloth.com/reference/top-button-placement/

2. That's correct. That's my suit. Looks a lot better without that ugly vest underneath.

3. They're a pretty lightweight flannel and I don't find them uncomfortable at all to wear in the summer. Definitely lighter than any denim I wear, which people don't seem to mind wearing year round. Boston can get pretty warm and humid, but not as much as NYC (or DC, which I assume is even hotter).

Gents, I'm sitting with a shirt in my PC cart, but I'm having a hard time deciding on the collar.

I love the looks of the Roma spread and Roma cutaway collars, but I'm struggling to decide which one is right for me. I prefer the look of the cutaway with a tie, but I'd like this shirt to be versatile enough to be worn with a jacket and no tie.

The Roma cutaway doesn't appear to be as crazy of a cutaway as some of the other PC other offerings, which I know are frowned upon being worn tieless here. So, suggestions? Is the Roma cutaway a tie-only collar and I'd be better off with the spread? Or would the cutaway look acceptable sans-tie?

the spread is tie only. you're the wrong way around.

Cutaway can be worn either way. Spread is tie only

Spreads are normally fine sans collar, but because this collarband and collar points are so tall/long, it needs a tie/jacket. It is beautiful though

@ccallis any chance for some Grandi and Rubinelli cotton-linens? They are some of the best shirtings I've ever felt.

@venividivicibj Do you think the Roma Cutaway is the best collar for a spread look with jackets, but still wearable casually? Thinking about doing it in an oxford cloth.

Depends on your style/tie/tieless. I personally like the Ivy BD and Roma cutaway (soft and stiff) for casual, and Roma spread for formal/jacket and tie

First impressions:

-The Milano II is a beast! I had other collars I had considered prominent, but the MII blew them outta the water. Felt very awkward initially, but it normalizes quickly, and I absolutely love the collar.

-Fabric (White 100s Twill) is excellent...easily the nicest shirt I own. Fabric is slightly sheer, but it has a great hand and doesn't wrinkle at wear spots nearly as much as I would have expected.

-Fit is exceptional. Much, MUCH better than I had anticipated. I gave body measurements, based upon complete guesswork (though some experience in fitness gave me decent framework), and PC formulated shirt measurements based upon them. The only minor (and I do mean minor) niggles related to fit are at the forearm/bicep, where it may just be ever so snugger than optimal, and at the midsection, where it may be just a touch wide. However, these are "issues" of maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 inch at most...which is a roundabout way of saying PC did phenomenal work!

Will post fit pics to the best of my ability later. Would love input on sizing changes from those more knowledgeable than myself.
