Leather sole stiching issue

A newbie here so forgive any inexperience in describing the issue.

I bought a pair of MOMA boots on the right shoe I noticed this strange small gap along the stitching of the leather sole.

Has anyone seen anything similar? Is it a defect? The boots were on sale but I did not buy them as seconds?

Thanks for the help

I have sent the pictures of the shoe to the shop where I made the purchase (in Belgium) and they said that they have sent the pictures to a MOMA representative to examine them and to say if it is a defect.

This shouldn't affect the performance of the shoes. Welcome to Styleforum free-man.

Thank you so much for the reply and your welcome.

This is one of my few leather sole pair of shoes and I am worried mainly because I have not seen anything like this before.

You are suggesting that the issue will not adversely affect the performance of the leather sole and I have no reason not to trust your opinion (you are a premium member after all)

Do you think the stitching is there but it is not visible on the surface?

I still have some concerns regarding how prone the sole will be to moisture seeping through this tiny hole(s).

Warmest Regards

I could be wrong but...what makes you think these have leather outsoles? It's hard to tell with photos but they don't look like leather.

As far as moisture getting into the shoe, if the shoe is welted, the stitch holes don't go into the shoe--they go to the top edge of the welt. If they are Blake...the empty holes are no more prone to wicking than the holes with exposed thread in them. The thread itself may actually wick water more readily than an empty hole.

These are leather soles with rubber insert parts.
It is a usual MOMA design.

I've seen leather outsoles with rubber inlays many times before. But even the russet coloured areas look like PVC or some such. Does it say anywhere on the shoe that the outsoles are leather?

Perhaps there's a vinyl layer bonded to the entire surface of the outsole....

I'm just curious...it won't affect the utility of the shoes or the other observations about the stitches.

Premium Member, I like that, thank you.

The stitching will be there, not to worry. DWFII, by the way, is one of our resident shoe experts and we are lucky to have him with us.
Cheers. May you enjoy your purchase in good health.

Thank you both for the valuable information.
I did not have any update from the store yet. I will let you know as soon as I have some news.

Thanks again.
