Say what you will about the JJ Star Trek reboot, the casting was spot on. All the main crew were recast perfectly.

*And no Kahn doesn't count.

So, has anybody succumbed to seeing ID4(2)? Facebook friends have not been kind.

The reviews have been devastating towards it. Movie sounds like a mess. I may rent down the line.

Same here. We even watched the old one in preparation to see the new one, but the reviews made us reconsider.

Old one is dumb fun and holds up in that regard.

Will Smith: "Welcome to earth" Yup

So true. It was fun to watch it with the kids and laugh at the dumb dialogue and characters. It's good entertainment, though.

Finally got around to seeing batman vs sup. No idea if it's extended cut or not as I pirated it. Ben was a great Batman and I loved Wonder Woman even if I agree she's not the best actress in the world. Ending was a total CGI mess. Wasn't a great film by any means... Not even sure if it's "good" but I wouldn't call it dog shit either. Too cynical a take on the universe for my taste as I like a little Hope mixed in with my comic heroes. Looking forward to future films with less Snyder.

Still all the actors cast are good. As is the art direction. The foundation of DCU is solid. Just needs a better head to guide it. Nothing so far can't be fixed moving forward. In Johns I trust.

The Flash scenes were garbage. Hell any scene involving teasing new characters sucked.

Doomsday was an absolute joke. Horrible CGI. I enjoyed WW kicking his ugly CGI ass but seriously they couldn't do better?

Star Trek is known for being fairly progressive, but has yet to have a prominent gay character in its fifty year history film and television history.

In 1996, it was said that Neal McDonough‘s character in Star Trek: First Contact, Lieutenant Hawk, was intended to be the first gay character in the series, but both producers and the actor deny it was ever planned.

Now it seems the Hikaru Sulu of the Kelvin Timeline will be revealed as gay in the upcoming Star Trek Beyond. The Sydney Herald Sun (via Towleroad) reports that the character will be seen with both a daughter and a same-sex partner in the film. According to actor John Cho, the decision was made by director Justin Lin and writer Simon Pegg in honor of the first man to play the part, George Takei.

“I liked the approach, which was not to make a big thing out it, which is where I hope we are going as a species, to not politicize one’s personal orientations,” added Cho. Of course, in some places, showing Sulu with in a same-sex relationship and a family unit could still be a revolutionary act.

In the original timeline, Sulu was presumed straight, though there is little evidence either way in either the original series or the first six Star Trek features. In the seventh film, Star Trek Generations, Sulu’s daughter, Demora, was revealed, but it is always possible he raised her with a same-sex partner.

Thor, now Iron Man.

Other then calling her "Thor," I didn't really have a problem with her introduction. She's got a great character design too.

Now this black teen female Iron-Man? Even I have to admit that it's really starting to feel like Marvel is trying too hard. Heavens forbid they give readers the classic versions of these characters to read about instead of constantly rebooting things and mixing up the status quo.

So is she still going to be called Iron Man? I mean, I get that calling her Iron Girl is demeaning or whatever, but it's kinda weird.

I can hear Lena Dunham's head exploding from here.
