I can see where critics would be very divisive when it comes to BvS, there were decisions and changes that will literally cut the audience in half especially if you're a comic book fan. One specific change is either you want it to be true to the comics or you are more open to adapting or updating these characters.

It's really difficult to discuss it without spoilers but once you guys check it out, you'll know those decisions/changes were.

Punisher's monologue at the end of episode 4 is one of the best things to come out of the MCU. Just pure poetry

I think one consensus on almost every critics review is that Ben Affleck is great as Bruce/Batman and if you're a Batman fan it is just a must see just for that portrayal alone. There is one caveat about him in this film that I don't want to spoil and you'd have to see and decide for yourself if that will affect you as a fan or not.

I mean don't be surprised if this movie could pass as Batman: Dawn of Justice lol8[1].gif

I couldn't resist taking a quick peek into your spoilers because at the time I was curious if that Reddit post was legit. Honestly I can see why people would take issue with it.

When you distill Batman down to his core. Take away all his layers and years worth of narrative baggage. He's a boy who doesn't want to see anyone get hurt. The Planetary/Batman one shot really nailed this concept in the story it told. Having him purposely kill bad guys goes very much against who Batman is and represents.

I have yet to see the movie and am reserving judgement on this till I do, but I have hope that it's handled in at least somewhat respectable manner to the character. Him running into rooms full of bad guys punisher style would not.

RT reviews or not, I'm still excited to go see it. I'm a bit under the impression that some people want to hate it, but I guess it's going to be an ok movie and there's enough good/bad for both sides to form what they want.

I'll touch up on that again once you see the film on what could have been done to solve that issue.

Overall from what I am seeing, general audience mostly likes it to loving it while critics are either ok with it or just hates it. Though some of the reviews complaint is that it isn't as happy as Marvel or that it is too serious, I mean understandable but I don't think it is valid to say the movie is bad just because it isn't in the same formula as Marvel films.

There are also moments where the general audience might be going "what the hell did I just watch" while a comic book fanboy might be in tears out of giddyness at what you are seeing on the screen and the possibilities. Since you read the spoiler, I'll specifically point out...

Flash seemingly coming from the future to warn Bats in a dream sequence that might not even be a dream. It could lead to Flashpoint? But the general audience are probably like, who and what the fuck was that?

I really do encourage you guys to watch it and I am curious what everyone's take on the film.

I somehow am just getting to this thread. As a big fan of Man of Steel I'm very excited for BvS for the same reasons people seem to be bashing it: introspective, dark, character relationship focus. I couldn't give two shits about action sequences and awful Ironman one-liners TBH.

Also finishing up my second watching of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica and despite some Season 3/4 miscues think it's my top show of all time. Don't know if any show handles existential qualities quite like it does. Big fan of Farscape too but for different reasons. I also missed the boat on Firefly and recently watched the first two episodes and am feeling super underwhelmed for a show that gets so much love. It just seems lame. Maybe I need to watch more to get to the heart of the fanboyism?

Farscape was fantastic and shockingly overlooked. Maybe somewhat ahead of its time. I loved the new BG but thought it was a weak finisher. Seasons 1-3 were absolutely fantastic, though.

Firefly is different - nothing epic about it, although the River character hinted that there could be something lurking in the background. But it is great ensemble acting with good writing and characters. There is a lot in common with Farscape in that sense. You will enjoy watching the whole thing.

I was just going to say that the few reviews i've read this afternoon seem to have wanted a Marvel-esque movie. It's not fair to expect that. Part of me wonders if critics are just piling on what the first few had written.

Battlestar Galactica's seasons 1-3 were indeed amazing. Some of the best sci-fi ever on tv. Indeed it was so good that I recommended it to people who would never otherwise watch sci-fi. It really started to fall apart in the 4th season and I remember thinking the moment that they revealed who the final Cylons were that the show had become a bit of joke. Last episode had some great action it, but i'll never forgive the writers for betraying the earlier seasons of the show and essentially saying "God did it."

It's a bit hard to judge Firefly on a whole since it didn't get to complete even one season. What they did release, was golden.

Never saw Farscape, but I've always heard good things.
