Looks fun and I am glad to see they are finally going to let them explore the universe in the new continuity. I know Birdman and Atuturk hated Into Darkness but i'm of the mind that while it was a highly flawed film, it wasn't a complete disaster. The first film in the rebooted universe is excellent. It's the 2nd best Star Trek film behind Wrath of Kahn and slightly ahead of First Contact.

You are getting more and more delusional in your old age. This looks like complete rubbish.

Good thing you can always watch old Trek. No one's taking those episodes away from you.

I'm enjoying the rebooted universe and am curious what the new TV show will be like.

Jesus Christ - 2 hours of headache-inducing visual noise.

Don't you punks understand that the reason we loved Star Trek wasn't shit blowing up? It was the dinner scene from Space Seed, sexy bad Uhura in Mirror Mirror, and Kirk outwitting Nomad in The Changeling.

I fucking hate these movies.

Paramount made Orci/Pegg re-write the script as they felt it was too "Star Trekky", and were instructed to make it essentially just an action movie with a Star Trek cast.

I see from the trailer Kirk destroys another Enterprise. I'm sure they will be flying around in a Klingon Bird of Prey at the beginning of the next film because God knows that hasn't been done before.

I still think my idea for Into Darkness was the best idea. Instead of Khan the villain should have been Sybok. Take the lamest ST villain and turn him into the coolest. A post destruction of Vulcan version of Sybok would have been a force to be reckoned with.

The tone of the movies have been far more action oriented then the shows were for some while now. Go back and re-watch the TNG films and it's obvious that this is nothing new. I'm ok with it as long as it's a fun ride and we eventually get new shows that feel more "Trek."

It's been rumored for a while that the original plan was have him be one of Kahn's men and not Kahn himself. It makes a lot of sense when you consider who they decided to cast for the part. The story goes that the studio forced a re-write because they felt Khan would connect much more with fans.

Nothing about the reboot makes any sense. Sure, it provides a chance for new experiences but the Romulan invasion would have had no effect on characters like Gary Mitchell, who is presumably still out there growing in power and will eventually destroy the entire galaxy. The over-reliance on action is ridiculous. Wrath of Kahn had probably 15 minutes of action, and that was enough to sustain the film. The "action" oriented Star Trek movies were generally pretty terrible. Sybok was a bum but the movie was fairly intelligent and not dependent on cheap lens flare effects.

J.J. made Star Trek into a cheap Star Wars rip, now he has the chance to ruin that franchise as well.

Oh yeah, as much of a TNG fanboy that I am, I can't deny the TNG movies were generally crap.

Sybok was lame in ST 5, surely. But...a younger Sybok who just absorbed all the pain of his entire race dying and going insane would have been pretty badass imo. Instead of making a pilgrimage to Shaka Khan he could be using his powers to destroy Romulus.

The TNG series finale was actually really good. I would have paid cash money to see that in a theater.

The TNG movies were not that bad. I fondly remember Generations and First Contact from my childhood. I think I even saw the one about the fountain of youth planet and the one where Data dies in theaters.

First Contact is excellent. Generations isn't bad. The rest are junk.

Oh be quiet, you're just jealous our Star Wars franchise will now have lens flair all over it like there's no tomorrow.

Eh, it looks fun. If I wanna re-watch "Space Seed", "Best of Both Worlds", etc.; I'll just re-watch them. Like Jason said, this ain't your daddy's "Star Trek".
