Advice on new Berluti's
Good advice. I should see them in the flesh and then get them darkened later if I want.
I'm not sure how to answer the question. I don't think you will find many people who like these as much as you do in general here so that is likely to err, colour, the responses. Did you want / expect the contrast panel to be darker? If so, and if you're paying a lot of money to get what you want and you have the possibility to change it, then you should do it. But if there is a aesthetic issue with these shoes, I don't think it's (primarily) the colour...
That being said, Berluti will refinish your shoes in any color. I had a pair and had them refinished in London, Paris and NY, each time with a different finish.
If it were me, I would go with your first color instinct. If you felt they should look darker then ask for a darker shade. They will do it, no problem. But realize that comments like light, darker, richer, etc are subjective and subject to the eye of the person doing the coloring.
And, if you don't like it, ask them to refinish them again, which they will do. Just be careful you don't get hit for customs if you send them overseas. I did once and it cost a few hundred dollars.
