Brooks Brothers suit fit critique

Brooks Brothers Fitzgerald fit solid navy two-button suit. Regular price $998 got it around $650 on Christmas sale. Have spent another $150 to get it altered (taper the pants, remove the collar bump, take the sides in, and shorten the sleeves).

Still not sure if the suit fits correctly on me, especially worried about the ripples on the pants. Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

Not too bad for RTW at all.

Few would criticise it in everyday life.

Decent images as well, thanks.

To me, the pants and the jacket look mismatched in style. I suspect that the problem started when you tapered the pants. A BB suit is just not going to be sleek.

Thanks to both.

Actually there were more ripples on the pants before they were tapered. I complained about the ripples when I picked up the suit from the tailor. The lady said that she couldn't get the problem completely solved.

I don't understand why you're dealing with a tailor who charged you $150. If you bought the suit at BB, they do the tailoring in-house for free, and in my experience are capable of excellent workmanship.

Good point.

Based on my experience with BB in-store tailoring at my local (Atlanta) store, only basic alterations (e.g. shortening unfinished sleeves and hemming unfinished pants ) are free on their RTW suits. Most other alterations on RTW suits will be subject to a charge.

Actually I did bring the suit to my local BB store for alterations, which I was very unimpressed with. They gave me an impression that they did not want to fix anything beyond shorting the jacket sleeve/pants. The in-store tailor rejected every other issues I pointed out on my suit such as the collar roll, the baggy pants, etc. When I explained to him that the jacket sleeve was too wide and had to be tapered, the tailor freaked me out by saying "Well, if the sleeves become too narrow you may have trouble putting your arms in there." Very unhappy with BB in-store tailoring.

Stop worrying about the fit, which technically is okay now. However, the silhouette isn't. Needs stronger shoulders, to give it more of a v-shape. Forest before trees.
