I have to say, I think these boots have awful proportions and lasts. Just very unattractive to me.
They're made for a certain type of workwear outfit.

It's made for guys who are into a certain type of workwear, often things that center around vintage workwear, rockabilly, early rock n roll, motorcyclce culture, surf, and hot rod subcultures. There's an author named Rin Tanaka. He wrote a series of books called My Freedamn and organizes a trade show called Inspiration LA. You can look up those references for more info.
I think it's hard to judge shoes as standalone objects. They should be connected to a look. Sometimes guys think of shoes as standalone pieces, and then they get things like sleek tan wholecuts with fiddleback waists that they wear with chinos. Then the shoes don't work with the outfit, as they have no connection to anything.
Julian boots are basically the opposite of that. Someone who's into sleek shoes might not like them. But they're designed for guys who are into a certain type look and want a certain level of craft. One may like or not like the look, but the shoes are connected to something bigger than shoes.
