Looking for a Small Men's Overnight Bag

I go on a non-business overnight trip at least once a month, and I'm looking for a bag to take with me to replace my aging backpack. I typically only carry 1-2 changes of clothes + travel toiletries, so the "overnight" bags you'd normally find are way too big for me. Are there any duffel bags out there that might fit what I'm looking for, without looking like a purse? A ~15" bag would be perfect, but an 18" bag would be too big.

Since someone might mention it, the Filson small duffel is too big. I'm also trying to avoid a tote or a messenger. Any ideas?

I think quite well of Floto duffel bags. Nice leather. Good craftsmanship. Reasonable prices, considering what decent leather bags sell for elsewhere.

I believe their Venezia Mini Duffle is right at 15". Too small to appeal to me, although I like the non-mini version of the Venezia just fine. Still, if you're sure that an 8x6x15" bag is all you want for a couple of changes of clothes + travel toiletries, so be it.

Anyway, Floto's website is http://www.flotoimports.com/duffleshop.htm

And the manufacturer appears to conduct lots of sales on eBay, for brand new products, at somewhat lower prices than those on its website. Although I see that thru Valentine's Day, the code valentine14 should get you 25% off at the website, which brings those prices down to about the same level as the eBay prices. Free shipping, either way. So under $200, for the Mini.

I usually pack pretty light, so an overnight stay is really just some PJ's and a change of clothes for the next day. For me, it doesn't take up a whole lot of space. My old backpack is around 10" x 9" x 16" (plus an external pouch), and that seemed to be perfect.

I took a look at the Floto Mini, and it looks like it's marketed to women as a handbag. Judging from pictures, it does look a bit too feminine for me: http://www.pensandleather.com/image...o_Leather_Handbag_Venezia_Mini_Bag_Monica.jpg

It was pretty much all "weekenders". I couldn't find anything small enough on there.

The Venezia Mini is about half the capacity of your old backpack. If your old backpack was the perfect size, the Mini is clearly too small. (I did suggest that the Mini was too small to serve as an overnight bag.)

Get the Venezia Piccola. It's just about the same capacity as your backpack. Yeah, it's 18" long, not 15", but worrying about the extra 3 inches of duffel bag length is silly. So what if the Piccola is 10% roomier than you need; it's not like you earn points in heaven for using every cubic inch of space in your duffel bag. :) Besides, an 18" long duffel bag is unlikely to strike anyone as being big and cumbersome.

Hey, you shrink a normal-sized accessory down to a foolishly small size, and you run the risk of having it look like it's meant to be used by women.

Again, get a small, but not freakishly small duffel bag, in the 18" range. It'll give you many more options than 15" does. It'll still be a small bag, but it won't be so petite that you'll worry whether the people who see you carrying it will wonder if you're simply holding your wife's handbag.

Does it really matter whether they call it a small weekender, as opposed to an overnight bag?

When I said "weekender", I meant "bag that can hold a weekend's worth of stuff".

I bought an 18" waxed canvas bag and ended up returning it. It seemed like too big of a bag for an overnight stay, plus I figured all of my clothes would end up moving around too much, due to all of the extra space. It looks like what I'm looking for probably isn't available. I should just get another backpack, but I sort of feel like a high school kid carrying my stuff around that way. Oh well.

How about this, Medium bag from Hildestahl. Price 440 euro (about 480 usd). It is just that, a smaller size overnight bag.

Duluth pack makes a nice product. I have their Bison duffle - but that's too big for you. How about this?
There are other bags there too - name recognition isn't there but the build quality sure is.
