Interviewing a tailor...

Thread Starter

I'm interviewing my tailor for the magazine I work for tomorrow afternoon. I have some general questions set out, but what would you say?

I'm calling the article 'Your Local Savile Row Tailor'

I've never conducted an interview before so... got any tips? :smarmy:

That'd be pretty cool. I have lots of jackets that need nipping and tucking..

Ask yourself what you would like to know, if you were reading the article

As a reader, I'd be curious about how the tailor got his start, what are a few of his more interesting fitting problems, trends that he has observed over his career, what he thinks of the future of men's tailored clothing, his tips for the novice bespoke customer, what is his own definition of "well dressed"...

I would asked him what made him become a tailor, and who was the person that had the most influence on him becoming a tailor. I would also ask him about the selection process of fabrics when he is dealing with a client. Does he assist the client in making the selection of fabric to use for a suit or a pair of slacks , or does he leave it to the discretion of the client.
