Flying Alarm Clock - Page 2

This one, Clocky, is even more fun. When the alarm goes off, it rolls off you nightstand and then rolls around the room until you get up and shut if off.

I will often sleep through my alarm entirely. Then there is lots of swearing and a mad dash for the bus, so I think nerf alarm clocks would be a great invention.

I heard something about this clock a while back on another forum and thought it sounded interesting! I have a pretty hard time waking up sometimes, so it'd be a novel way to help things out. That being said, I probably couldn't rely on it alone, but would add it to my current aresenal of one "buzzing" alarm clock, one "beeping" alarm clock, and the Sonic Boom buzzing/beeping/shrieking alarm clock with attached bedshaker. Seriously. I'm a weeee bit hearing impaired, but even that can't explain how hard I am to wake up sometimes! I do recommend, however, the Sonic Boom to anyone who isn't sufficiently roused by beeping alone. The sound it makes is something similiar to what I imagine a cat hacking up a furball with its dying breath at a 2nd rate rave would sound like. And it has adjustable volume and tone settings for the most horrid of aural combinations. The bedshaker is optional...but who can resist the tempation of having a violently shaking plastic disk under your pillow each morning? Certainly not as elegant as this design, but a real piece of work in its own right.

Jeebus! If I had to wake up to that, I'd kick it across the room.

Puzzle Alarm Clock

The Sonic Grenade Alarm

"...With a quick pull of the pin, this alarm can be tossed into some poor, unsuspecting sleeping persons room..."

A buddy of mine, who works in the audio post business, is notorious for oversleeping and sleeping through alarm clocks. He ended up buying a reciever for cheap off E-Bay, and wiring an alarm clock into it. Now when the alarm goes off, it gets blasted through a 500 watt, 5.1 Dolby surround sound system. I don't think he's been late for oversleeping since.

500 watts? That is fucking awesome. Remind me to find a receiver, I'll have less trouble getting up for a 6am shift

Heh, my disdain for mornings is legendary. I use Task Scheduler in XP to play something very loud to get me up -- I admit I only run 220W. The funny thing is I will get used to a certain song/type of music and have to change it every two weeks or so. I found this out as I thought Evanescence' "Wake Me Up" was an appropriate tune. It worked for three weeks then I woke up two hours late with this thing absolutely screaming it on repeat.

I had dreamed I was at a concert.

Regards,
Huntsman

p.s There are many heavy objects in my room that would find additional uses as hammer analogues had any of the earlier (admittedly amusing) devices managed to pierce my slumber.

I used to have the same problem. I still hate getting-up. but I find direct sunlight does a pretty good job. The bed-shaker sounds awesome though.

All these devices are very bizarre.

I used to have an alarm clock that had a voice-activated snooze function. Not very effective at waking me up, but it was very satisfying to shower it with vile imprecations early in the morning and have it shut up. It made my morning quite tolerable.

I once knew a truck driver who did most of his runs on the east coast. He used this because he problems sleeping thru most alarms.

Being a truck driver, being late for something ends up costing him a lot of money. He told me that even with this he would wake up not by the alarm, but from other truck drivers beating on the side of his truck screaming at him to "turn that damn thing off!"
