Flying Alarm Clock

Can't quite understand how this works. Or, why. At Hammacher Schlemmer.

How: The base spins the rotor so it takes off like a helicopter.

Why: It forces you to get out of bed and put the rotor on the base so that the thing will shut up.

At least thats what I got from the description.

Okay, but couldn't your hands get cut? This is one, weird clock. Hammacher Schlemmer is my favorite catalogue, by far. May order the flying dragonfly. I love ornithopters.

I remember seeing that in an inflight catalogue. Awesome.

It would be better if it was fitted with sharp blades, and once it flies it goes to your neck unless you press the stop button first.

I'm guessing it doesn't stay in flight, once the momentum from the initial windup wears off. So the whole point is that you have to get up and go find wherever it has landed and return it to the base, by which point you're thoroughly awake.

The Puzzle Alarm Clock works along a similar principle. When the alarm goes off, it pops the four pieces into the air and you have to re-assemble them in order to shut it off. I can't decide if this would be incredibly effective, or just really, really annoying.

How to shut off an annoying alarm clock.

Sounds like one of those insidious corporate games or activities.

Oh, I see. The copy reads: 'flying around the room' and 'hovering.' This is what made me wonder. For my part, this clock would cause a total psychotic breakdown.

I've had one exam that I didn't show up to because I turned my cell phone alarm off in my sleep. I did get to take the exam later because I charmed the teacher. Now I hide my phone, or put it somewhere far away when I set the alarm.

I'm guessing it doesn't fly or hover for all that long. Plus I doubt that it has enough momentum to cause any damage if you tried to catch it while it was flying around.

That could be a good design platform for an alarm clock that fires Nerf at the sleeper. Hard to stay in bed with foam darts hitting you every couple of seconds.

I'll admit its no fun getting up in the morning, but you people must have REALLY rough nights in order to need nerf darts....lol it's pretty funny though
