I hate running - Page 4

Maybe try throwing a parachute into the mix I've found that boxing and dancing seem to burn just as many calories and get your heart pumping, both of which I find more fun and fullfilling.

So, I need something else to do for cardio. I don't have a gym membership but could get one. However, my understanding is that running is the best form of cardiovascular exercise.

What is my solution? Do I suck it up and keep running, only getting 20-30 minutes in? Or should I focus on something like an elliptical, or biking? I want to lose some of my excess body (read: beer) fat and just tone up a little.

You just want to get rid of some excess weight and fat, right?

Sure, you can run, lift weights or do some cardio if you like, but it is not required to lose weight and tone up. Just walk a lot more and eat healthy. That`s the way the body is designed, and you should see better results more quickly.

All this hatred, I know people who absolutely love running. They think it is very liberating which I agree with. Don't you get feeling in middle of your run when all the endorphins are firing off and feel you can conquer the world?

m@t,

you mention boxing as an excellent cardiovascular sport, and i'm definitely intrigued. do you know how one would begin in order to pick up boxing?

I mostly hate running, too. Every once in a blue moon I get an awesome run and I feel so good afterwards, but those are rare. Most of the time, it's just boring. Thanks god for nanos. I run pretty much just so I won't put on anymore body fat, and because I'd like to stay on a fitness level where I can run 10k whenever. Oh, and I also resolved to run 1000 miles this year.
