In fact, I'm really curious about what kind of money has been thrown into these uniforms from either end.

Too much probably...

I know nothing about it, but I assume Ralph Lauren provides the uniforms for free after bidding against other apparel makers to outfit them, and included in that deal is a budget per head for production? Then they internalize the design costs? What is Ralph Lauren paying for those rights? Low to mid 7-figures? I guess they can sell the replica apparel for stupid profits?

I saw that the retail for the full outfit is over 2k. I wonder how long it will be before you can pick it up at Marshall's for 60 bucks...

Joke's on you:

Currently on eBay with bidding at $1500, BIN for $3500.

It is also a fantastic window for the brand, a great PR exercise...

Lacoste has done the same for the French team...

It will be interesting to know the commercial ramifications behind these deals.

Found even better ones. Hail Ralph LIpshitz the 'Wolf of Catwalks' : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ralph-Lauren-Purple-Label-Burnished-Leather-Ankle-Boots-/350968307363?pt=US_Men_s_Shoes&var=620220307632&hash=item51b7575ea3

P.S. Seriously, no US manufacturer of RTW can match Ralph's wears. RL is not a great American designer, but he is for sure the best American RTW merchant.
