Casual Shoes & Shorts......

Ok, so here is my dilema...I'm getting tired of wearing boat shoes on the weekend when I'm out and about. I want to find a pair of casual shoes that don't make me look like a senior citizen (sorry guys) but are a little more "dressed" up than just sneakers.

Basically, if I'm wearing a nice pair of shorts and a Polo shirt or short-sleeve silk button down, which type / style of shoes do most guys prefer?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated......

You can check out Botticelli or Santoni sneakers, they look decent and the quality is good. Tod's and Pantafolo d'oro have a few good looking ones too

I realize that this suggestion may draw some revulsion, but what about a nice pair of sandals, preferably ones that cover a lot of the foot?

A tan or chestnut penny loafer. It's the next step up from a boat shoe.

+1 on espadrilles, also canvas sneakers and slip-on loafers.

I find it perplexing why sandals are so reviled among some here. Is it a symptom of the hemispheres we live in, or what?

I could not care less how much of your feet are eposed by the sandals any of you wears.

They're comfortable and can look good, so the likeliest explanation is that the wether does not suit in particular parts of the world, or they just don't go with the look the sandal-detractor wants.

That, or they're not confident showing feet, or have no idea how to carry off the simplest-of-attire look.

Camp mocs, driving loafers, or penny loafers.

(Yes, yes, they're sneakers, but they still look better than most sneakers for this purpose.)

indeed. White chucks (no socks), flat front khaki shorts, and a polo constitute my summer uniform when I'm too lazy to put together something creative.

I was recently turned on to the idea of tassle loafers with shorts. I had always scoffed at the idea because I had this stigma that they were for the older crowd. However, they look rather nice on someone younger so long as you're wearing well fitting clothes and have atleast a slightly athletic frame. It's a classic look that never really goes out of style. If trying to stay dressy, a nice pair of derbys sans socks looks nice as well.

Indeed, if you're sticking strictly casual then white chucks look great. Another option along these lines are classic vans in tan, white or navy.
