Bathroom decor

The walls in my bathroom are all empty, because every time I've put posters/pictures up in a bathroom, framed or not, they get rumpled up by steam and start to look bad. I'd like to put something in there though, because it's all white and very echoey. So maybe something I can hang on the wall that will cut sound down a bit?

What is on the walls in your bathroom?

What are you doing in there that's noisy enough to make echoes a problem?

A small, old wood framed mirror, some small framed drawings and a reproduction of Bosch's Garden of Earthy delights. Then again, I have a huge bathroom that apparently was remodelled by a gay couple in the 70's. It's a giant, mirrored, groovy, hot-tub party room. I should post a picture.

Everything in there echoes, and I have very good hearing. When you set down something glass on the metal medicine cabinet, it reverberates like crazy. It might not bother everyone, but it drove me nuts for the first couple months of living here.

Just a mirror and medicine chest. The fireplace helps with echoes.

I have this hanging in my bathroom, painted by yours truly. It is impervious to moisture.

I could put shelves but I don't need the space - it actually has a good deal of storage space and I'd rather avoid the clutter and having to clean them, etc.

Something like Kent's idea was what I thought of before - some modernish plastic item hung on the wall, like those mirrored bubble things or something. I'll have to dig around craigslist and such to see what I can come up with.

There is a shell theme going on in my bathroom...this is one on of the walls.

Cork tiles (on the walls and ceiling) painted, not sealed with paint, to harmonize with or match your bathroom color(s). Most of your echo is from the ceiling.

Hang some woven items (rugs, tapestries, sculpture) of different sizes and media (cloth, reeds, bark) slightly proud of the walls.

Pile some towels on a nice demi-lune.

A small rug before the sink.

Anchor or isolate your medicine cabinet securely.

The cork tile idea sounds good. Good call on the ceiling, it is a big expanse and the paint in there is also all semigloss, so it reflects sound even more than if it were eggshell finish. I have two rugs in there already, which helped. I'll have to see what else I can come up with.
