Well, we know odoreater agrees with you.
Is it available for San Francisco yet? I thought it was only for Manhattan for now.
Also, just for curiosity's sake, does anyone know if there's a way to display when the photo was taken? I was checking it out other day, and they clearly are not real time pictures. (It was about 10:00 p.m. in Los Angeles, and when I looked up addresses in Manhattan they would be depicted in broad daylight.) I couldn't find any way to determine when the pictures were actually taken, but I only spend a couple of minutes playing around with it.

Not sure how to tell when, but I can clearly see my front windows and were the picture taken at night I could probably see myself in my living room. So yeah, it is in San Francisco.

Not even close to real-time. To do that they'd have to have street-level cameras setup 24/7. The photos are taken by vans that drive around the city continually snapping digital images -- those images are then put in the Google view database by long/lat.

Like the satellite imagery it will probably only be updated once every few months or less. So basically it is a snapshot in time but far from the ubiquitous Big Brother spycam. (Give them a few years I'm sure...)

They had a good news piece on this today. So far Google Street has caught: a) A criminal in process of breaking into a home b) A man urinating on the side of the road with his ass cheeks hanging out c) A man coming out of a strip club by himself and various other items in progress. I think it's a great idea and if inspected a lot can be edited out in Photoshop with stills.

I once saw a policeman in Shanghai urinating on the street.

the view I have down the street is at least a year old. The 'tennis courts' that are in the image don't exist. There was a NYTimes article about a woman in Oakland pissed off when she saw her cat in her window from the image.

I was just told that my last house has had the Street View treatment. Took a look - and felt invaded.

I looked at the current home and saw they'd been by, but a wall of trees all around the property meant they saw nothing.

It's irrational, but it does make you feel vulnerable.
