Report: Rob Ryan Being Denied Head Coaching Jobs Because Of His Hair - Page 2

I used have long hair. Earrings, too. Then, I realized I wanted a job that wouldn't allow either, so I cut my hair and took out the earrings. It really wasn't a hard decision, mostly because I'm not a penis. After I did this, a guy I know jokingly told me I was a sellout. I told him being a sellout pays better. Seems Mr. Ryan ought to learn the same lesson.

Incidentally, if I'm the guy doing the hiring, I have to wonder about the wisdom of investing millions of dollars into someone who is so stubborn that they'd rather have long hair than a glamorous, high-paying, apex-of-my-profession job.

It seems meaningful to me. The coach is the public face of the franchise, and sets the tone for the whole team. "Petulant man-baby" is probably not the personality you want for your team. You can pull off the weird guy routine as a coordinator because the HC is establishing the overall culture.
