YOHJI YAMAMOTO FW2014

found some time to watch some videos a few times and it definitely improved my opinion. fabrics look so much nicer in video, even compared to good quality static images. the knitwear, which i already liked, i like even more. this whole look is just a home run. the print works so good on the bottoms.



the one long leather jacket is pretty sick, though I'm still not so into the other leather pieces. outerwear generally is really good (cut of the long red camo coat is great). definitely things I still don't really like, including the opening look and still the less voluminous bottoms, but i do think there are a lot of individual pieces that are awesome.

sorry for OT but can anyone identify the music that was playing during the show? sounded like Can but more industrial

wow this is so awesome! i've always associated yohji with all black flowy drapey stuff but i'm really loving the colour palette here.

I know that for some people this isn't the Yohji they know and love, but I've liked Yohji's more colourful stuff for a while and wondered why it isn't taken up more in the west, and then suddenly he really lets loose with colour and it is just outstanding. Personally I'm not particularly into the leather and snake and skull-print stuff, but I want that red camo coat and the orange flower-print suit right now, in fact many of those suits. Just great.

I know someone on IG who attended the runway show is a retail store buyer and she went to the showroom afterwards and handled those pieces. According to her those garments with prints are hand painted? You can imagine the prices of those labour intensive stuff ( like the SS11 embroidered blazers ) and perhaps no 2 pieces are identical

Well, that means my chances of being able to afford any of them are, shall we just say, extraordinarily limited. But I will definitely take a look at the flagship store in Tokyo when they are in...
