Why would we do light colored jackets when it is the dead of winter for most of the members?

no three piece here.

lighter SC is neat, and there are plenty of lighter browns and grays that are winter weights and colors.

I like the idea of a three piece challenge, but why not make it simply a "vest/waistcoat" challenge? If you don't think there will be enough takers you could even include cardigans a la some of AAS' fits if you want.

I've actually thought about a vested challenge before where "odd" vests are given a bonus 2 votes. I don't see odd vests very often and think it would be a challenge for some, and instructive for many. One could always fall back onto a 3 piece if they think it were best, but they would be sacrificing a potential 2 free votes.

Regardless, this was a great one and I am definitely looking forward to the next.

I don't think enough guys have a double-breasted suit. [...]

Wouldn’t need to be a suit, of course.

The vest idea is interesting. Not sure anyone should be penalized for wearing a three-piece, though. Of course I have a vested interest in the question …

Sorry. I’ll get my coat.

Cheers,

Ac

Three-piece would be good for me - ditto double-breasted.

Odd jacket "light over dark" - not my strength, but I might be able to rustle up something.

Overcoat challenge? I've got a new one waiting for me at BB - grey chesterfield - this lunchtime's errand, to retrieve it, through the snow.

I just wanted to say thanks for the votes, Gents. 3rd is the highest i've ever placed in a challenge. :slayer:

I like the overcoat or light/dark challenge.

My suggestion last time was to do a "rinse and repeat" challenge: Wear an item more than twice within the same week (more times for extra credit; the more prominent the item the more credit) and see who can get the most diverse good fits.

What I like most is that it hopefully requires a departure from groupthink. Sure, brown tie on blue palate or blue tie on gray palate could work once, but what are you planning to do for the "repeat" part?

Just my two cents.

I want to say thanks as well, can't believe so many people voted for me! And congratulations Pingson!

I think both vest, light/dark and overcoat challenge sounds great, would participate in any of them

You'd have to require that the item not be something generally considered to be a staple, otherwise everyone would just wear navy suits. Also, remember that we only have 3 days of dressing left- "more than twice" would be a bit of an ask, especially considering not everyone can take photos on any given day. Maybe two photos, but anything involving three would have to be announced on a Sunday for fairness IMO. Even for two, I'd want at least four possible days.

Thinking about the weather right now, best sweater under suit look would be a good option for us east coasters. Limit it to suits to force people to make the contrast in formality, or allow odd jackets to allow a range of tweed looks and whatnot. Both would work.
