Great stuff!

Ancient I am, and getting more so with every minute. Priceless? On occasion, some of my comments, perhaps . . . smile.gif.

Perhaps a tacit recognition that it's difficult to put a navy tie against the suit without a subtle clash? The bow allows a bit of shirt between.

3 bow tie fits up in here, i would not have expected that. good stuff.

mimo, i am SO glad you ditched the pink gingham, this is so much better.

Butch'n'Crusty,

I was just trying to be different...then of course the bow tie A-Team fly in and put me in my place.  Fair enough, it was you two heavyweights who inspired me to go buy some bow ties (five so far, black tie excluded) anyway.  Still, I suspect we will be in a stark minority come Sunday morning.  Which is fine by me.

The subject of the shirt front came up in the bow tie thread: some don't like the exposed buttons, and to me it's inherently a bit more casual.  So it had to be a three piece today, which I think balances it and makes it a lot more formal.    Funnily enough, both my current and future boss commented on my bow ties yesterday and today as if they were the epitome of style and formality, which is funny considering I was in an odd jacket yesterday.  I guess they associate bows with black tie.

Either way it's great to be different, isn't it?  And being insufficiently different from you two gents today is an honour!

Stitchy - I'm glad you approve!  I would have worn a plain navy herringbone bow tie with that one though, not the orangey paisley...I'll show you another time. :)

POST NOW FOR ALL TO SEE!!!

also, as an aside, i have noticed than in a number of your full fit pics there is some odd bunching/stacking of your pants from just above the knee down to the hem. i have no idea if its the pants or just how you stand for those pics, but it might be worth looking into. if you had a clean line top to bottom in that full fit pic it would be something else, man.

Probably a combination of linen, over the calf socks, and not taking my pics carefully first thing in the morning with freshly pressed trousers - just at various junctures through my day, in and out of the car, whatever. That, and I probably wear my trousers a shade longer than you do.

I have been in the habit of wearing linen a lot, as you know, and my odd trousers are also cotton, linen, a mix of both, or very light wool.  Fact is they won't hang as neatly, or for as long, as the heavy flannels and stuff you go for.  But it's 70F here in the cold days of winter, 130F in summer, we work with what we can.

Anyway, I shall look hard at my trousers in future and see if I can get a little smoother for you! Thanks for the observation, it's always good to have something else to be fussy about. :)

interesting. i think pants fit is probably the hardest thing to get right. im sure you can find a way to remedy it though, it really would take your fits up a notch if you could get a cleaner line in the pants.

I have some heavier suits almost ready, will see how they look - though not for long!  And maybe when I move house soon, I'll get a trouser press too. :)

lol. i dont think that heavier pants and a trouser press are bad, but i think that even without them, if you could hone in on a better hem length and thigh width it would solve most of it. just my 2 cents.

Trying this navy challenge one more time.  First time mixing it up with a vest.

For a forum of people with admittedly poor photography skills, navy on navy is tough not only in execution, but also in presentation. Of course, AAS is the exception that proves the rule :/

My dad duties may interfere with my office time, so I may need to revise my previous comment and use the aforepictured fit....

EDIT: DOH! Nope, that was 2013.

Oh, and Mimo: I think I have those same shooz!

I will take the pics again but I think that the color of the SC is not the proper... Pic was taken late but shirt is blue and I see it as gray in my monitor. Now... I selected the houndsthooth cause from a ditance looks blue but are patterned SC's are allowed?
