That's something we can't really see from the photos, right?

The next pair will likely be something without laces. A double monk or a loafer.

I vote for a double monk (for what my opinion counts... hehehe)

To be honest, the side seam bothers me less than how they made the vamp sweep upward toward the heel, rather than go all the way around. Can they fix that?

I do not think that that is fixable without a remakle, probably they did so to hide the backseam of the upper part...

Wha? What have you done with Foo, and would you be interested in a very reasonably priced bespoke lapel flower?

Unless you mean the flower is bespoke insofar as it was individually grown from the ground, no.

I have never been able to get loafers or other no-lace shoes because RTW never fits my feet. Now that I can get bespoke, I feel like I should seize the opportunity.

That said, I might just order another pair of the shoe they just made me, but in a different leather. Maybe two pairs.

The side seam is both hardly noticeable and well executed, it would in my opinion be a waste of time to get them remade just to deal with that. Very nice looking shoes overall. I'm not a fan of that toe shape though. Looks a little too elongated and low, like someone took a rolling pin to a chiseled toe. Maybe its the perspective of the pictures, since they're close-ups.

I asked for the classic Cleverley not-quite-square toe. The chiseled Anthony Cleverley toe (and all chisel toes) look too sharp and new-fangled to me. I suppose I could have gone with a traditional round toe, but I figured when in Rome . . .

FWIW, I think the shoes look very good.

I fit helps, you could just console yourself with the fact that doing a side seam is more difficult and requires more skill than doing a back seam.

Frankly...and this is just a matter of personal opinion and aesthetics...a backseam would have stuck out like a sore thumb and looked amateurish.

YMMV

What about versus no seam at all?

Well, I don't think I've ever seen it done. Even ladies pumps usually have a seam. You might have to block the whole upper like a seamless full cut and then cut it down to obtain the golosh. I dunno. Did the company say they could do it with no seam?

No. But I guess I don't see why it would be any more difficult than making a plain wholecut.

In some ways making a seamless balmoral can be a little bit tricky cause your are usually mixing accurate pattern cut parts with the more ""freehanded"" galosh. But its is easier to get all the pleats out cause the upper doesnt have to go over the cone of the last but rather sit like a ring around it.

here is an example from shoegazing blog
