Balmoral Boot Porn - Page 58

^ I agree I like Dainite. Carmina dies it really well.

Not sure I like the Forest last though. Since its considered to be a wide last, does it fit like Inca? Or Robert?

Only 483 € ex vat, pretty sweet deal, <$700 shipped, a couple hundred cheaper than you'll find them elsewhere.

I'm still hoping that someone who ordered these (it might have been you, but I'm not sure) will update with photos. The preview pic from Betty gave the Cognac shell too light of a color for my liking, and I'm wondering if it was just the photo, or a light batch of the shell.

I have bal boots on Forest, and two monks on Inca, and a 9UK fits me perfectly on both lasts. No experience with Robert until that Skoaktiebolaget MTO comes through.

I've never touched a Robert. Forest doesn't feel wide to me, however. It's narrower than Oscar. Inca fits my foot really strangely and really poorly, so that's a difficult comparison for me to make. Inca's heel is too wide on me with a well-fitting toe box, so I guess Forest has a narrower heel?

The one on the far right is cognac shell the only difference I believe is that the ones pictured are on the York combo sole. More pictures here.

I forget Betty's email, maybe someone else can chime in with that or you can search through the Carmina threads for it or just go to their site.

I'm not entirely sure about the fit yet and won't know until the rerun of black scotchgrain show up. Even then I won't be much help as I have reasonably wide feet so took the opportunity to order a UK9.5 wide instead of a UK10.

See the pics above, but also the good Mr. Cowperwood did a comparison between Carmina's Cognac and Alden's Ravello and Cigar, it's a lot closer to Ravello than Cigar.

I know about Carmina's Cognac in general, but was wondering about that specific batch. For example, these are Cognac bal boots from Skoaktiebolaget, and they're far too light for my liking.

just the opposite for me. i really hope our mto turns out that light.

If Gent and I are discussing the same thing, it's the Cognac jumper boot, Oscar last, Dainite sole, purple lining, from Skoaktiebolaget, all organized in the Carmina porn thread. (Spoiler because it's not a bal boot)

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Should be finishing up within a month or so.

The downside of shell i guess, no way to know the exact color until you have it in your hand. This will be my first shell shoe so i don´t know how it age but if shell gets darker with time i also hope for the lighter version. With 16 people in this MTO we will have a few that think the color (whatever it might be) is the wrong one, someone took the wrong size etc. This will feed the Carmina thread for a couple of pages...at least biggrin.gif

All the pictures of the cognac I've seen are more or less the same color as my cognacs Adelaide and ive yet to view a carmina cognac shell that i didnt like. I would describe it as a dark ravello

The shell C&J uses for PRL on the Daltons and Marlows, which I understood was Horween cognac, always seems to start much darker, almost Cigar dark, and then age to the lighter Ravello-ish color.

Thanks for the feedback.

Liked the leather combo but agree with you guys that it's too narrow and pointy, so won't buy it.

Might get a similar make up from Carmina on the Oscar last.
