Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe) - Page 501

I like the shirt and collar. It looks like the picture is really brightly lit or the white shirt is throwing things off. But as it is on my screen, I don't like the color of the tie. It looks kind of like a muddy and greenish brown rather than a deep chocolatey brown.

That's a beauty, 6. Thanks for the link.

@mrjester I think you could do a white shirt with that tie, but you'd have to wear a different suit--something more summery, like a lighter blue linen. Even then, I think the color of the tie just doesn't work with white. Everyone seems to hate hearing it, but light blue would be better. I think cream might work. Also a brown stripe like this would be good.

Any critiques as to why this guy isn't liked? Just the basic white shirt? I know, not right. I can't help but some times like the cleanliness of white.

Gracias.

Jacket looks awesome, and the tie is nice too. Here are some tips:

  • Tie a nicer/tighter knot
  • A light blue shirt usually goes much better with a brown tie. Give it a try and see for yourself.
  • The square complements the tie nicely, but I'm not a fan of the fold. Try the foo fold next time: http://www.tweedinthecity.com/2013/01/31/bend-it-over/

By the way y'all, who's rooting for which country in the World Cup?

I'm rooting for South Korea, then Germany, then the Spurs, then Texas, then the United States.

almost a G on C&Js makes me sad.

Yes, GGs are all over a G. I have 7 or 8 pairs I think. All bought brand new, and aside from the MTO, I paid in the 450-750 range for all of the rest. I has my ways.

Sometimes I'm tempted to buy lightly worn shoes. But then. Just. Dunno. I'm not against it in principle. I'd just rather know that mine are the only feet that have been in them. After briefly flirting with used jackets, the only clothes I'm really comfortable with wearing used are pocket squares and ties.

never had an interest in used shoes, personally.

also, after doing custom/MTM and finding RTW brands that fit right, i find it hard to take the gamble with pre-owned. risk not worth the reward of the price drop for me right now.

jester, i dont think that is bad, just bland perhaps. colors are pretty tame, tie color is not particularly awesome, and there is no texture i can see to make up for the tame colors.

GO SPURS!!!!

US, then Italy. In past years I rooted for Italy begrudgingly because, even though I love the country, the style of its soccer team was frustrating. Now they're more fun to watch.

Also, go spurs.

Funny, in England that's rather predictable for a Jewish fellow. :)

I'm flying straight into Texas, so no worries; I won't have to deal with American immigration. And I'm very, very Texan.

Me too, but I had a nice sized windfall and some went to those. They just fit so. damned. well. I paid much less for the second pair (which are waiting for me in Texas)
