Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe) - Page 455

I am tenatively interested in the following ones. I marked them with white dots and arrows, as I was having trouble typing white font =/. I am very odd jackety. If I am missing any or picking duds, please LMK. If somebody REALLY wants any of these I am willing to let them have it, except for the navy/gold stripe. :)

I'd be interested in the shepherd's check one. Or is it gingham? Maybe the navy/orange striped tie next to l2b's one as well.

Wow, such hate on Zegna...it's probably the name appearing on the buckle.

It's not because it's zegna, any name on that buckle is pretty gaudy. At least it's not one of those giant H Hermes belts.

A long time ago, a salesperson in the Zegna store in Berlin explained to me about the different nuances of the color black. "Technically, there is only one black," I told him. "Black is the absence of light. This coat you are showing me, for instance, is gray, not black." "No, no," he said, visibly upset, "it's a light black!"

Thank you for your kind attention.

I think that I...

...may be at my limit for ties at the moment. There are others I would like to have, but none of them is available at a price that's acceptable to me. Not saying they're unfair prices, just more than I want to pay at the moment.

:(

I'm not gonna be able to swing this if it's just myself, MF, and clags. I don't have time right now to flip 30+ ties =/

Yeah, and I'm only mildly interested in one tie, maybe two.

In case you weren't aware, Mr. Porter is starting their sale. I have to admit, there's little they offer at discount that I'm inclined to, though I've only looked at sections that might pertain to CM. At this point, I only buy a pair of socks no and then (Bresciani, only when they drop to 50%).

They have a poor selection of Drake's ties and the discounts aren't as significant at this point in the sale (they used to start at 50%). They didn't even pick the best Drake's squares. I like these the best, but given the white background, they seem less versatile. Also, still much more than I'm happy to spend on a square piece of silk.

But what say you about versatility?

This is the striking one this summer at NMWA

1 hour left on that auction and it's still at $6 per tie.... it could go up to $10.50 per tie and you'd still easily profit/break even on all the ties you don't want... and get to keep the ones you like for a low price

I could see the first as somewhat versatile, but two-color hanks, especially when one color is white or cream, are less useful for me. Greg's looks interesting. I wish these folks would show a picture with the hank deployed in a pocket, though.

Yea, it's a lot of work flipping stuff though. I may have to spring for it and keep them in storage until I get some stuff sorted out. I was just hoping for more participation in a group buy as that would've been awesome. :)

Shit, those 6 unclaimed RLPL's alone could be sold off for about $240. ($40 each)

Why not just send em to Luxeswap?
