Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe) - Page 448

At least he's one of the better dressed guys on Dutch TV, despite everything being too tight and too short. Many of his shows are a bit tongue in cheek about the upper class/rich, not that we have a class system like the UK, seeing as it is mainly determined by money.

I suppose his poses for Suitsupply are tongue in cheek as well, but it can be hard to understand for people who haven't heard of him, i.e. everyone outside of the Netherlands. Suitsupply is still a bit Dutch centric, even though it's a global company now.

Jort started out as an editor for a magazine that was for/about the wealthier people of Holland. He is a bit of an attention seeker, but I suppose it helps him attract viewers/readers.

I love this Cantarelli SC from NMWA. There are a couple of concerns however:
  • spalla camicia shoulder
  • Linen
  • US / Canada shipping

I have rounded, sloping shoulders; therefore, I need a little bit of structure in the shoulder. I have only tried on a few suits / SCs from various makers. I love what Suit Supply are doing, but their cuts and design choices do not suit my stylistic requirements nor my figure. The only cut that worked for me was the London - however, even the 6" drop felt like I was scuba diving! I went to Ede & Ravenscroft instead.

Suit Supply also had a linen SC similar in colour to the Cantarelli, but I disliked the choice of peak lapels.

I do not think that spalla camicia shoulders would suit my physique. Shame.

I think I would prefer a light-weight wool rather than linen during the stage where I am building up functional SCs.

The biggest fly in the ointment is US / Canadian shipping only. I have failed to find a single SC similar to the Cantarelli in London for around the same price point. That said, I haven't properly explored Boggi or Pal Zileri. I'm not impressed with the SCs on the former's website (I suspect retail will have a much larger range), whilst I suspect the latter will be much more expensive than the Cantarelli (retail).

Like Stitchy, I need to watch my finances and avoid spending for the next month or so. A bank holiday stay-cation, eating out, and buying an engagement ring (plus a Gant dark navy raincoat with removable inside jacket) have put paid to any sartorial purchases for some time. When I am in a position to think about clothing, I'll need to round off my basic wardrobe re: Loake dark chocolate suede Chukkas; tan chinos and another pair of mid-grey wool trousers.

In the interim, I can do some window-shopping at Boggi and Pal Zileri to determine whether the Italian cut works for my physique, and to determine their range of SCs.

Or wait until Rudals decides to dispense with his 40R Formosas' in a fit of pique and altruistically take them from his hands at a song. Bravo philanthropist!

Thought everyone would be as amused by this GIF as I was creating it...

It's in regards to the recent streak of spammers, and stitchy's new mod (superhero?) powers

I too would like to chime in here; in the interest of offsetting a recent outflow of cash to the fine folks at NMWA, I'd like to offer first crack to my posse here at Noodles' House of Sartorial Corrections at some fantastic Panta...pants (yeah, I coulda said trousers/trews/whatever).

Non-vanity sized 50, brand new unworn, unaltered. One pair staple light grey mid weight flannel, one pair rich medium brown (lovely color, damnit) in a similar weight, perhaps a bit thinner, and one pair of heavier weight medium grey cashmere barleycorn. These never fit, and at this point never will. Come with all the typical Panta bells and whistles. Will be sad to see them go, but at least I know I have a good fit in Rota's now.

Also have a great pair of practically unworn suede Buttero's via NMWA, in the oh-so-small size of 39. This is the cream of what I will be selling at the moment, plus may have to cull some unused/unworn ties at some point.

Let me know if there's interest and I can provide measurements, pics, etc. Before I actually have to get my shit together and post these up "officially". Will have to figure out reasonable pricing; I don't wanna take too bad a hit, you don't wanna pay more than you wanna pay. Currently offered by Ed at $279 retail. http://www.pantaclothing.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=98

@jrd617- that is pretty amusing.

What's size 50? I see 32, 34, etc. on the panta site.

Hey, guys! So a while back I sent a Kamakura to Luxire to be duplicated with a few minor adjustments. It landed a few weeks ago, but I am just getting around to posting it now. Feedback very welcome, as I am planning on using this template as the basis for a fairly large shirt order soon. Please keep in mind that this shirt is one of their "trial shirts" and as such the fabric quality may not be the best. I plan on picking several nice oxford fabrics to makeup.
