Brown: 10

Green: 5 (lovely color, but square florets plus grid)

Navy: 7 (such stripes aren't my thing, but I understand it's objectively a fine tie)

Blue: 9 (grid be damned, those florets are lovely)

Brown: 8 (I prefer brown to navy, obviously, and the stripes are more subtle)

Damn, Professor Clags, that green really brought my average down. 7.8 with vs 8.5 without cold[1].gif

Polka dots are for clowns. Pin dots are for men. I can't think of any context where polka dots are a better choice than pin dots.

Large scale patterns work best with three piece suits--the vest covers up much of the tie keeping the top block from looking too busy. I don't wear three pieces, so I steer away from large scale medallion type stuff.

I think if I were to pare my collection down to these ones, I could achieve necktie zen

But there's probably room for 5 more ties. What would you add? I'm definitely getting a replacement black grenadine soon. I definitely don't like knits

In order of formality

Grenadines, dots, glen plaid

Jrd,

The brown one on the far left in your first picture is very nice!

Clags,

Remember when I bought some retarded looking polkadot tie with huge dots and you made me return it? That was a good call. I think I just have a chronic case for picking up bad ties.

That's what this thread is for. And what I thread it has been. Hope it keeps going for a while longer.

I will try my best to keep this thread going. I dont think I will ever be cured of this handicap. So as long as I have the tendency to get fugly ties then this thread will be required.

What the heck is the colour? JRD, is this what you ordered and have in the picture??? Fudge. These pictures on the website suck!

Chilllax??? Where did you get that word from?! I thought I invented that word?

Anyways, thanks a bunch.

@Claghorn

I was so impressed with the Cappelli's that I ordered three more.

-Black fina grenadine
-Blue grossa grenadine (navy one is too dark to wear with a navy jacket)
-Blue w/ pindots (diagonal, not grid icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif)

I think that could round out the collection I have posted. Any other glaring gaps you see?

I've never had a shantung tie, maybe that's what I need. Knit ties and linen ties aren't my thing.

Again, looking for necktie zen here. Don't want anything that's going to sit around unworn.

I was quite displeased with shantung ties. The rawness to them don't go well with my CBD but I guess it looks alright.
