Now you're just boasting (that the standard sizes do not accommodate).

Could be a boast, or a lamentation.

I cannot muster the will to get excited about high end socks.

Try some Mes Chausettes Rouges (sp?). Their linen and wool offerings are about as exciting for me as socks can get. Admittedly, they're not obscenely expensive (mid $20 range) but I like them a bunch.

Can anyone compare Pantherella socks to Mes Chausettes and Viccel? I just hate spending $25-$30 per pair

I have Pantherella and Viccel. Panthetella are softer and more comfortable but all three pairs I bought developed holes fairly quickly which was disappointing. Viccel are not the same quality, feel more synthetic, colors have faded but all remain in good shape and i still wear them.

Viccel is currently having a 30% off sale (everything) if that helps.

I just saw that and ordered 14 pairs peepwall[1].gif

Anyone have experience with London Sock Company?  Saw them today on an iG account I respect.

I looked at them today as well and their website took forever to load. I started to lose patience and the one thing that kinda annoyed me was the logo on the socks. It seems as though they all have them. Pricing came out to about $20 a sock. At that price I would rather shell out the $5 to have pantherella

I really like my Viccel and have nothing but good things to say about them.

I have some Pantharella too.  My only dislike with them is that they have very few options that are fully natural.  I'm a bit fussy in my hot climate about having all natural fibres.  They've lasted well though.  I'd take MCR as I said, or blacksocks.com for bulletproof staples - they really are excellent value.  Bresciani are good too, but I find their OTCs are every so slightly too short to stay up over my calves.

Viccel look like fantastic value.  I found their colours looked a bit synthetic and mine wore out, but to be fair, I bought the super lightweight ones.  I would happily try their stronger ones at that price - and service was excellent.  @KemalOnyurt seems like a very helpful and straight guy.

With no offense intended, I'd be curious to know how folks that get holes, especially those that occur quickly, treat their socks.

From my experience, I have never gotten a hole in any sock, regardless of quality, and I treat mine pretty terribly (heavy wash + dryer).

I think it has to do with personal hygiene (nails)

Ive put holes in socks near the ankles and stuff where the seams are stressed

That would make sense. I'm a chronic picker (thankfully not the nose lol), so it is extremely rare that my nails, be it fingers and feets (no need to grammar check me anyone, I know ha), are anything but too short at any given time.
