You can certainly be lean on without a gym, but if you're serious about adding a bit of mass (and the shoulders tangent/discussion wasn't just more playful trolling) you should absolutely get a gym membership. Jump roping and side laterals, while better than nothing, won't do the job.

So you get bored at the gym, which has lots of stuff, but not with dumbbells?

What's the point of having a membership and going to a gym when you don't have a goal. That's what happened to me.

Add bulk to shoulders (I am told I cannot broaden at mid 30s) and get a V shape or as close to it. Sick of having a big arse head and narrow shoulders AND being freaking pear-shaped.

You can absolutely add muscle in your mid 30s. Who told you you can't? You just have to be smart and consistent with your training and nutrition.

As for getting a V shape and avoiding the pear shape, that's all about having a small waist, which is mainly about diet. Wanna lose some fat and shrink your waist? Clean up your diet: eat a little less, make generally healthy food choices, and be consistent. It's fairly simple, but requires a bit of discipline and patience.

^ wow @llamaone good post … you read my mind. Soccer may help a little cardio, but that's about it … obviously will not do anything for your shoulders.

and that shit about not adding muscle in your 30's is precisely that … bullshit. srsly where the fuck did hear that? The diet and discipline is most important if you really want to change your physical condition. It won't be easy, but most certainly you can do it! Good luck!

I'm 42 and have put on 3kg of muscle since January. Maintaining the diet is harder than the training.

That's with a busy job, wife and two kids.

You have no excuse.

I've put on ~15 pounds over the past 6-7 months (started seriously lifting for first time since leaving college). Was up about 20-23lbs, then cut down 7 or so. Still need to cut another 5

There is a big difference between adding some muscles and broadening the shoulders. No, he will not broaden shoulders. He might add some muscles. And I strongly believe basic exercise (run, swim, walk, play football, do pushups, pullups...) has better impact in terms of posture and structure. Gym is for teenagers.

So many posts already and no half naked photos. Hmmm, strange...

Gym is for teenagers? Lol

And there's no half naked pictures because Colco isn't here.
