Try on the trial suit. If the fit is close, return it and go mtm. If the fit is not, return it and look elsewhere for an mtm tailor whose pattern works better for you.

I have that tie.  I like it a lot, and that is saying something as I don't like striped ties.  That tie is the ONLY striped tie I own.  Doesn't look young, I am old-ish (mid 40s).
